Alright, so we’re off to Arizona early Saturday morning and we come back on Tuesday, but I’m bringing the MacBook so I’ll still put up a Mileage Monday and a Week in Review for you guys. Plus, I want to drag you along with us this weekend! We’re leaving our children and our kitty behind, which will be hard but I know the time will go by super fast.

I don’t really have anything to write other than to just let you guys know what we’re up to in the next couple of days. The race we’re doing is the Hippity Hop Half Marathon on Sunday morning which is in Peoria, but we’re staying in downtown Phoenix so that we can walk to the Diamondbacks game later on that day.

Andrew’s goal is to run it under 2 hours, and my goal is to help him, and keep the baby and I healthy. I’ve noticed that my once-a-day poops have now turned into a bit of an all day affair, what with the increasing baby pressure on my nether regions. It’s quite annoying, and boy am I ever thankful for our treadmill so that I can run close to a bathroom. Needless to say, I am a bit worried about the race on Sunday and have already scoped out the port-a-potties along the course.

It’s also going to be hot, obviously, so I’ll have to pay attention to staying cool and super hydrated. It should be easy enough since I’ll be drinking a whole lot of zero beer by the pool. 🙁

Boring post, I know. I hope to catch you on Instagram and if not, I’ll be sure to keep you posted on here! Muah!

Do you have to use the port-a-potties during races? Or just at the start? Or do you avoid them entirely?

Do they keep the mid-race potties stocked with toilet paper and hand sanitizer or should I carry my own?

I think I have only stopped mid-race at a port-a-potty once, so I don’t usually pay attention to where they are on the course. Alot of times I line up to race and think that I have to pee, and then by the time I start running the feeling goes away and I forget about it. Luckily I don’t really have stomach issues while I run (knock on wood) Have so much fun this weekend!

Ohhh I know what you mean about having the feeling go away! I try and stick it out too, which usually works.

I don’t think that I’ve ever not stopped mid race. Literally can’t think of a single one. Well, for a race that is a half marathon or longer. Otherwise, I can hold it. Have FUUUUUUUUUUUN

Okay, well at least I’ll know I’m in good company!!

Have fun in Arizona!!! I don’t think I ever pooped during a race but I stop to pee all the time.

Really?!? I try not to drink anything in the two hours leading up to the race. I do all my hydrating the night before or early that morning. I’m just worried about poo. :/

I’d carry wipes if I were you–I buy those purse packs in the travel section at Target. Better safe than sorry, I say!

Okay, I will definitely pick some up today. Thanks Wendy!

I have never used a porta potty during a race and hope I never have to! I have darted for one immediately after a race though and have done quite a few runs from the house where I was thankful my husband didn’t want to look at any homes for sale further back in this neighborhood!

I hope you have fun in Phoenix and you and your husband both meet your goals in the race!

Ha ha! I love emergency bathroom stories! Thanks Amy– I’m looking way more toward just being in the sun than the actual race. I think I’d be happy just going down there to get root canals! Anything to get out of this dreary weather.

I have never had to stop during a race, thank goodness. I second Wendy’s suggestion to carry wipes, because I can imagine mid-race porta potties are less the sanitary. Have fun this weekend and soak up all that sun!

I thought maybe you had to stop during the Portland marathon with the stomach cramps. I am quite leery about those mid-race potties! Eeeeeeeek!!!

Fellow potty planner, checking in. I like to be prepared 😛
