From Lush to Hush

Hey guys–I’m really sorry I’ve been slacking on the blog lately. I didn’t post a Week in Review because I took zero pictures last week and I have NO IDEA what I did to even write about. I did, however, post a couple wordier posts on Instagram so if you don’t follow me on there yet, then add me! If you’re not on Instagram, I don’t blame you at all–it took me a long time to get on the bandwagon. But now? I LOVE IT. I don’t even have a Facebook app on my phone anymore; it’s all about Instagram.

Social media can be a dick sometimes but as long as we’re aware of it and don’t get caught up in the comparison trap, then it can serve us, rather than the other way around. For instance? I swear I have never eaten healthier than I have since I started following all these athletes and their stories! I get so much inspiration from them and not just daily but hourly. I used to spend so much time googling recipes and reading cookbooks but this way, I can see what I’m about to make, I can jot down a quick comment or question and it gets answered often within minutes! I love it.

Besides all that, I’ve had a few things on my heart lately that I wish I could write about but find it tricky to do so just because it’s a bit too personal. I know I can do it because I’ve written about such things before without divulging too much all while getting my point across and so I definitely want to give it a whirl.

This is boring. I’m boring myself. Quite honestly, I can’t wait to drink a bunch of wine, no! Tequila. Wait! Vodka and Coke Zero. Oh! And a Ceasar. Then put on something a bit slutty, dance around the kitchen to something inappropriate, and then? Sit down at my laptop to write. To write something good.

So, that’s what’s new over here. The Hotyssey broke down yesterday (the alternator went) so Callum and I were stuck in the house all day today. I had to brew my afternoon cup of coffee myself rather than pick it up in a Starbucks drive-thru. Oh the horror. My oldest boys finish school tomorrow–both of them passed (one of them just barely and one of them with straight As but I won’t say which ones, but you’d never guess)–so I’ll have one in grade 12 and one in grade 10! Katie survived her first year of middle school so she’s going to be in grade 7 next year–it will probably feel good to not be the youngest in the school anymore.

What else what else… Callum got Katie in the eye with the corner of a book and now she’s got a shiner. My bum issues are under control thanks to Procto-foam (doesn’t it sound like a superhero?!?! “This is a job forrrrr…..PROCTOFOAM!!!!). Wouldn’t it be cool if I got paid by hemorrhoid cream companies to write this blog?! My boobs are getting frigging huge, and I’m a bit worried about it. They went from a 32A (padded, push-up) to a 32D (lightly lined) and the latter are holding on for dear life. Our weather sucks, Father’s Day is coming up and it’s making me anxious, but the cat’s flea problem is completely under control.

I’ll stop typing now. Here are some photos just in case you didn’t read any of this.

What’s new with you guys?

If you could have one company pay you to write sponsored posts, which one would you pick?

Is my writing way better when I’m drinking?

I feel like certain posts I write better after just the right amount of wine. I prefer Instagram to Facebook but I hate how the algorithm shows posts out of order. Maybe I just follow too many people but sometimes I feel like I miss so many posts! I guess maybe I don’t spend long enough scrolling through.

YES! I can’t stand that either! Why do they show the posts out of order?!?!

I’m talking about needing to give in and give out today too. And I don’t have kids running around, so I don’t know how you do it. PS that third pic of Callum is everything. I don’t even have topics that I want to write on (well, that is a lie, but they are things that I can’t talk about yet, but I hope I will be able to before long).
I could also do with some tequila. And a magic car fixer upper.

Is your car broken too?!?!? AHHHH!!! We just spent $1000 on fixing the van!!!

I’m so over blogging and social media lately. I completely feel you on that. And you know if you want to talk about personal stuff my phone is always on <3

Thanks, Gretchy! I think you know everything already, but I’ll keep you up to speed, NO DOUBT. Thank youuuu <3

I need to follow some of the ones you follow on Instagram, because I’m sitting here with no idea what I want to eat for lunch. I spend way more time on Facebook, though, and just save article upon article that I want to read.

You know what?! Maybe I follow a lot of pregnant runners/athletes who are all about eating healthy yummy food that’s easy and quick to prep!!! Go through the people I follow and just start following all the pregnant ones. LOL!

Congratulations to all the kids on moving to the next grade!

I sometimes struggle with oversharing personal stuff… I feel my blog is my spot to share what is in my head, but I also have to keep it clean, and organized, and not spill my entire guts, there has to be some level of courtesy? I don’t know… maybe I’m doing it wrong.

All I know is that I love it when people share their hearts in a vulnerable way. It takes so much strength and courage! And we can always tell when people share to hurt rather than share to heal. I’ve never got the hurt vibes from you. You’ve got a pretty big heart. <3

Ummm, hemorrhoids? aka the gift that keeps on giving? Ayyyyy

I love Instagram… yes, it’s hard sometimes NOT to compare, but mostly it’s just inspirational and motivational for me. So glad I found you there too 🙂

I read all of it, but I appreciate the pictures too, especially your sauce bare your bump photo.

Poor Katie. Poor van. Cute Callum, better bum.

I’d love to be sponsored by my CSA or a local farm. You know me and my big hippie heart.

Oh, wouldn’t that be awesome! You’d be the one person who would actually turn all those veggies into something delicious. I’ve had a sweet potato sitting on my counter for a week now. I walk by and stare at it, clueless.
