Mileage Monday

I logged (appropriate term, as you’ll see below) 73.7 miles this week. Yay, me! I also did a bunch of strength work 3 times. Single leg dead lifts, bicep curls, overhead something or others, lunges, side planks, stuff like that. Here’s how the running went down:

Monday– 6 miles with the stroller and then 5 miles after the park on the treadmill while Callum had quiet time.

Tuesday– I woke up at 6 and ran 5 really slow miles outside before anyone else woke up. Then later on when Callum had some quiet time, I ran 5 miles on the treadmill as a way to clear my mind and re-boot the emotional tank for another couple of weeks straight with all the kids!

Wednesday– I got up early and got 7 miles in before Callum even woke up! Then finished it off with 3 easy miles in the afternoon. Keeping the pace at around 9 min/miles.

Thursday– I pushed Callum in the stroller for 5 miles this morning and then Andrew and I hit the road for a hilly 5 miles into the sunset after I got Callum to sleep!

Friday– I ran a super slow 6 miles this morning listening to an amazing podcast episode (Lindsey Hein interviews a lady named Rachel who is a recovering alcoholic who just ran her first marathon) and then I headed out for 4 miles in the afternoon sun with the goal of hitting one mile at 6:50 min/mile pace but I felt so good that I did 2 in a row (6:43 and 6:47) with a warm-up and a cool-down mile.

Saturday– So, this run didn’t happen until 2pm which I now know is a terrible idea because I either hydrate and eat and then spend my entire run trying not to soil my shorts or I don’t eat or drink anything and then put me and my baby’s life in danger, or at the very least, feel like shit. This particular run involved the former scene, and thank goodness I remembered to pack a little bit of toilet paper into my pocket because I had to drop my shorts and do the second public poo of this pregnancy.

Sunday– A long run with Lora! Today’s run was MUCH better than yesterday’s. PHEW! Two pee breaks, but no emergencies or public poo. No idea our pace, but we logged our usual route of 12.7 miles. Don’t you love Lora’s shirt? She’s making a funny face here but her shirt is what counts. Oh, and her legs. CHECK OUT DEM LEGGIES!!!!!

Last time you’ve done a public pee? How about a public poo?

Did you work out last week? Did you know that if you want to use the term “work out” as a verb, it’s two words, and the term “workout” as a noun is one word? FOR THE LOVE OF GOD. DON’T CONFUSE THEM.

How shocked are you guys that I not only ended my weekly mileage on an odd number, but a DECIMAL TOO?

Haha, lately I end my weekly mileage on odd numbers and decimals. I don’t even care anymore although if I look at Strava on Saturday night and see that I’m close to something I will occasionally run a little extra to hit a number during my Sunday run. Just depends :).

You had a great week of workouts and I am super jealous of Lora’s legs! Quad goals!

She only runs, too. Well, she goes to the gym but she lifts arms, chest, back etc but zero squats and lunges or anything. Her legs have always been like that!

Wow, 73.7 miles is a totally random number to end on! Im glad you didnt push it to 80 just to hit an even number!

Lisaaaaaaaaa Lisa Lisa Lisa Lisa. Do you KNOW how close I was to hitting the treadmill last night for 6.3 miles? SO CLOSE. Pre-pregnant Suzy would have done it for SURE.

  • Susie @ Suzlyfe May 1, 2017, 4:03 am

Yes, an odd number and a decimal, but a palindrome, which makes it ok. I was super impressed with my non pregnant 60 miles. It made me feel very Suzy like 😀

I was so stoked to see you log 60 miles last week, and by Friday to boot! HELL YEAH! And who tf would judge you for that? LAME.

I choose my routes carefully so that I don’t have to do a public poo. I’m hoping my half marathon this weekend doesn’t involve any of that…

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 1, 2017, 7:35 am

Public poos are bad enough on a training run, but having to do them during a race among hundreds of people is a bit… worse than that. Although, you’re around people who understand and who have likely been in a similar sticky situation…

OMG I absolutely love the shit (and the legs!) and love how you can wake up and run before anyone else is awake and then bang (yes, bang!) out more mileage during the day, all while creating a human. Do you look in the mirror and just say “DAMN!!!!” because, I would 🙂

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 1, 2017, 7:34 am

I haven’t though to look in the mirror and say “DAMN” but I’m thinking that I just might. Once I put my contacts in. Actually, scratch that–I better leave them out.

You are just crushing it week after week at running during this pregnancy!
I deliberately end my runs on a full mile (or maybe half mile, but that’s rare) – and then either just finish with a walk or go the extra mile. Round numbers soothe my brain.
Oh don’t get my started on the workout vs work out. I’m sure I’ve made that error before since I’m my own worst proofreader, but goodness – I agree wholeheartedly with your caveat.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 1, 2017, 7:33 am

A lot of things soothe my brain and you’re right–even numbers are one of them! Corona is a close second.

You are amazing!! I love that running drive you have!!

Last time I poo in open air? When we went hiking at the Waterfalls trail last year. It’s a 7 mile hike, with no restrooms around. And when you gotta go, you gotta go!

Thank you for the comparison of work out and workout… i’ll do my best to remember.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 1, 2017, 9:20 am

Oh, it’s no big deal if you confuse the two terms. I’m no grammar queen and so I should get off my high horse.

  • Ange // Cowgirl Runs May 1, 2017, 8:54 am

Dayum, I have leg envy for sure!

I’m for real so impressed with how well your body does pregnancy and running!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 1, 2017, 9:21 am

Thanks Angela!!!! Aren’t her legs incredible?!?!?!

  • Megan @ Meg Go Run May 1, 2017, 10:39 am

Well what constitutes as public? Does public mean right on the street or sidewalk or does it mean behind a tree? Because I go to the bathroom behind trees all the time!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 1, 2017, 12:32 pm

HA HA! No, not right in the middle of the street or sidewalk. Man, I’d love to see that though! Or maybe not.

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets May 5, 2017, 7:11 am

I’m amazed you ended your week on a decimal. Tell me you aren’t still slightly twitching over that.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 5, 2017, 8:14 am

      DON’T REMIND ME!!!!!!!!
