Mileage Monday

Hey guys! After my 80 mile week last week, I wanted to keep this week’s mileage at around 60, but ended up with 65 miles. I also cut out all speed work and tempo runs, just because it felt like the right thing to do. I did strength work twice instead of three times, which is fine. I’ll probably do it three times next week.

Monday– A super early and slow 5 miler on the treadmill followed up by an afternoon cooker in the sunshine for 6 miles at an even slower pace.

Tuesday– I ran 4 easy miles on the treadmill this morning and then took Callum to Fort Langley to see the trains. It started raining so I got him some lunch and pushed him in the stroller for 6 miles. Thankfully the rain stopped and my mom and my sister came out to meet us, and then a train went by! Woohoo! Also did some strength work.

Wednesday– I took it easy today and did a simple 8 miler on the treadmill at a 9:13 min/mile pace.

Thursday– I pushed Callum in the stroller for 5 miles early this morning and then ran another 5 miles outside by myself after he went to bed. I was SO DESPERATE for that evening run! It started out feeling a little dodgy but the way back was stellar. Magical, even. Euphoric. I LOVE RUNNING. I am feeling so thankful right now!

Friday– I got up at 5:45 and hit the treadmill for my run but Callum woke up at 6:15! So I only got 2 miles in. I put him in the stroller with some blankets and pushed him for 5 miles so that he wouldn’t wake the big kids up. Later on in the day, Andrew offered to take Callum with him to get Kylah’s hair cut so I went for another 5 mile run outside alone in the sunshine! It was divine! I also did some strength work.

Saturday– I felt a little rough around the edges today but forced myself out the door as I knew I’d feel better with some fresh air. It worked! I had to have 3 pee breaks but I managed 7 hilly miles by myself. Lots to be thankful for.

Sunday– An easy 7 miler outside while listening to a podcast episode. I turned down a long run with Lora because I wanted to keep my mileage at 65 this week, plus my right heel is a bit sore, plus we had a fun day at the beach planned and I didn’t want to take up too much time running.

Do you live near a beach? Have you been to one lately?

Would your rather lay out on grass or sand?

How are you runs going lately? Do you run in the mornings or in the afternoons? What about when it starts getting hot?

Grass, def. I feel like after sitting in sand I’m finding it in crazy areas days after. Plus, I hate bathing suits. Loathe.

I don’t mid running in the heat 🙂

Great mileage! You are so amazing. ♡

Sand is a person with sensory issue’s nightmare!!!!!!!! I don’t mind running in the heat, either. Although your heat is a little different than our heat.

I no longer live near the beach but growing up there was one 15 minutes away so we went all the time. I would definitely choose sand over grass. I always run in the morning, especially during the summer months.

I wish ours was only 15 minutes away. We have to drive a solid hour to get to one!

I would LOVE to run at the beach right now but I won’t see one until late July. At least I have a lot of lakes, including the one I see out my front door everyday.
SO happy you’re still so happy with your running!!!!! 65 miles is killer for anyone, let alone a pregnant mama! #inspiring

Lakes are good too…maybe even better. They’re better for swimming!

I love being near the ocean but I HATE sand. I don’t like being sandy. Basically, I’m a kill joy. Sex on the beach is my worst nightmare.

I knew that about you and I thought of you when I was writing out the sand question!

Sand for the win! I don’t live super close to a beach but the beaches in Chicago are pretty nice. I like to SUP there–with the skyline as a backdrop, it doesn’t get much better!

Oh yeah! You guys would have a killer skyline. SO beautiful!

We live near many beaches but I haven’t been to one yet this year. I should go but it’s always packed on the weekends. I might have to take a day off and go during the week. It looks like you had an awesome week of running and am glad you got in 65 miles. That is super impressive even if it was a cutback week!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 5, 2017, 8:43 am

It’s pretty packed here too, so mid-week is the best time to go.

great week of running once again for you! I do live near several beaches which is awesome this time of year!

I’d love to visit New York one day!

Great week of running! I love PNW beaches probably because they aren’t very sandy. We used to live near a sand dunes beach along Lake Michigan, but I hated to lie on the beach there because everything then would be covered in sand. I like the beaches near here more because there’s less sand.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 5, 2017, 6:39 pm

Yes! Sand spreads like a virus!

I love your level of badassery!! running at 5:15 am, with a stroller, WHILE Pregnant!! You are amazing! I love that !!

I would absolutely lay on sand, the grass is too pokey!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 5, 2017, 6:38 pm

I tend to think that the grass is full of bugs that bite me.

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets June 6, 2017, 6:56 am

Look at you scaling yourself back. I’m impressed.

I love the beach. We grew up spending half of our summers at one (on the Canadian side I might add) so I’m right at home there.
