Mileage Monday

Well, I had something of a recovery week which was just what my legs needed. I didn’t even run on Monday, the first day off since forever. I think I probably take a grand total of 3 days off running per year. I didn’t die, but I didn’t like it. I managed 70 miles, and a better attitude by the week’s end.

Monday: A polar bear in a snowstorm.

Tuesday: I meant to do 10 miles but then a stray dog came out and I got scared so I had to take a detour and I ended up tacking on 3 more miles. Which, you know, is crappy but awesome at the same time. Pretty much a parallel to my life.

Wednesday: Easy pace (8 min/mile) on the treadmill.

Thursday: I did the same workout as last week (the one where I run hard for 8 min, recover for 4, hard for 6, recover for 3, etc) but this time I did two sets of hard running for 8 minutes, and then went down the ladder. Total of 11 miles.

Friday: More treadmill. I did a fast finish: 5 miles at 8 min/miles and then 1 mile at 7:40 min/miles then 3 miles at 7:30 min/miles then the last mile at 7 min/miles.

Saturday: I needed this so, SO bad. Okay so I did that 2 min hard 2 min recovery times 10, and I did it at 9 miles an hour again but THIS time I didn’t stop to take any breaks. I feel so badass right now. Well, because my bum hurts from constant stress diarrhea. But also because I ran that HARD. I’m so curious to know if my half marathon time has changed much.

Sunday: Medium/long run of 16 miles outside. Well, the first 5 miles were on the treadmill but then when Andrew got home I took off outside and it was AMAZING. About a 7 min/mile pace for 11 miles.

Andrew has been slacking a bit but he is back on the wagon now. He ran 6 miles on Thursday and then 20 miles today. I was pleased to see that his feet are getting marathony. They’ll never be as disgusting as mine, but when they’re bad enough to snag clothing, they’re on their way.

It’s Andrew’s 42nd birthday on Tuesday but we’re going out tonight to celebrate. In advance, I posted a special music video of myself on Facebook. I’ll post pictures of the crime scene and videos tomorrow.

Our cat’s vagina is heart-shaped, and I’m using massive amounts of self-control to not post the picture right now. You’re welcome.

Have a lovely Sunday evening, and most excellent Monday morning, my friends.

Have you ever seen a heart-shaped vagina? On an animal?

How gross are your feet?

Have you ever made your own music video?

My feet are always in bad shape. At least in the summer I try to make them look decent so I can wear sandals but it doesn’t really help. Now that it’s winter I’ve kind of given up on them!

I usually put red polish on my toes just to make them a bit better but ya, not so much in the winter. No point.

Why were you looking at your cat’s vagina, is what I want to know.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 7, 2015, 8:35 am

I can’t help it! She struts around with her tail up.

My feet are pretty gross. Sorry Andrew’s are not gross at all!

My week was the opposite of yours. Slow and achy. 🙁

Oh, his aren’t gross at all, I know. They’re all soft and smooth. Mine are out of this world. They legit cut fabric.

My feet aren’t as bad as they could be, but they sure aren’t cute. Thank goodness for flats, boots, and running shoes to hide them!
I bet your half marathon time is crazy fast now. You should try racing one!

I’ll for sure run the local one in February. It’s a super hilly one but I’m curious to know what I have in these legs!

Great job this week!! And yay for taking a rest day and surviving. My feet are gross normally, so you can imagine how horrible they are now with running and rock climbing. No wonder Dan makes me wear socks in the apartment..

I’m not a huge fan of feet in general.

  • Heather@hungryforbalance December 7, 2015, 9:40 am

I can honestly say that I’ve never looked at my cat’s vagina before. But now you have me curious…
My feet are pretty gross as well. In fact, the big toe nail on my left foot fell off a few years and ago and it has never been the same since.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 7, 2015, 12:32 pm

Well I wouldn’t normally look but her tail is always up and she has short hair, and light coloured fur everywhere except right on her vajayjay. I sent the picture to Susie on FB. I’ll send you one too. It’s really quite exciting.

My feet are constantly blistered and nasty! I have to keep polish on my toenails at all times or it would be bad. I love that ladder running workout you did. Definitely going to try it!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 7, 2015, 12:31 pm

Yep, it’s a workout that Laura from This Runner’s Recipes posted. I linked it up on last week’s Mileage Monday. I do it every week–it’s a great one.

  • Helly on the Run December 7, 2015, 12:16 pm

My feet aren’t too bad. I always have some light color polish on them to make them look presentable.

I’m on the injured list so no miles for me. BUT, I did get two molars taken out today so beat that!! (ugh…..)

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 7, 2015, 12:30 pm

      Ohhhh two MOLARS?!?! Ouch. 🙁

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets December 8, 2015, 3:22 am

    Happy Birthday Andrew.

Why are using self control and not posting the cat picture?? I posted on IG a loaf of banana bread with strawberries which in my humble opinion was quite illicit and closely resembled a hoo-ha. It was years ago. I shall find it and tag you.

Also, only three days of non-running a year. Big sigh…shakes head. Did I ever tell you my dad hasn’t missed a day in almost 30 years now. Talk about a streak, although he goes nowhere near your distance. Y’all are crazy, and I mean that in endearing way.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 8, 2015, 7:55 am

Oh I like the sounds of your dad. He’s awesome. And I feel funny about posting a picture of a REAL vagina. A fruit vagina is different. I think.
