Mileage Monday

My goal was to run 70 miles this week (I’m supposed to be tapering) but I crept up closer to 80 miles. So yeah, I ran 80 miles this week. I SWEAR I WILL RUN LESS NEXT WEEK. It was so hard keeping it at 80. Don’t judge.

Monday- Super slow ass-dragging 10 mile treadmill run while Callum slept. I definitely felt yesterday’s 20 miler today. Yowch.

Tuesday– “Track” Tuesday (18 miles total). I did 10 miles earrrrrly this morning at 6am and then when Callum went to bed for his nap I ran my 4×1.5 mile repeats on the treadmill at 6:31 min/mile pace with 800m recoveries. WHY DID THIS SUCK WORSE THAN THE 2x3s?!?! Cumulative fatigue, I guess. What a crazy run.

Wednesday– I ran these 10 miles in the morning again but it’s so hard not to run again in the afternoon because my body is so in the habit. It’s a good thing I ran this morning though because Callum skipped his nap today! 😛

Thursday– I started out with the intention of running at least a few miles at marathon race pace and I just couldn’t do it. Not on the treadmill. So I ended up doing some intervals instead just to get the 11 miles over with.

Friday– I had the chance to run outside (Andrew has the stomach bug now and he came home to have a nap with Callum) so I took the opportunity to do my long run of 16 miles. I got burnt to a CRISP. It’s a cooker out there!

Saturday- 10 miles in the morning blah blah blah early morning runs suck blah blah blah.

Sunday- 5 miles with my little man in the stroller. I was pushing it, although the way my body feels it could be the other way around any time now.

What’s the weather like with you guys right now?

It’s 34 degrees Celcius here today!

Which body part of yours burns first/worse?

This weekend was kind of weird- super humid and warm but not much sun. We were supposed to get lots of thunderstorms today but so far just about 20 minutes of a downpour and now its clearing up. I always manage to miss random spots on my arms and legs with sunscreen, and I feel like my legs burn the worst. Good luck with the rest of your taper!

It sounds like you guys needed more than just a couple minutes of downpour. I’m not sure what the humidity is here! Lemme check. 76%. That’s pardy stickayyyyy!

Ow ow ow ow ow your chest looks painful!!! 🙁 I got sun last weekend because I forgot to wear my visor. It wasn’t sunny this week (Like Lisa said- I’m only like 1.5 hours form her!) but it was HUMID. So I was always soaked after a run and had to shower before stretching or else I would have frozen. I have to do speed work tomorrow but can’t decide whether to do it before or after work. I will be tired at either time, but it will be a different kind of tired…

I say do it after work because you’ll be way more stressed out then and can channel your angst into the toughness of the run.

Oops didn’t read this until I already got up and drink my coffee!

        • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 6, 2016, 6:21 am

Okay well good luck; I know you’ll nail it no matter what time you run.

That sunburn looks hella painful. My stomach and chest seem to burn first but those parts of my body aren’t exposed much so right now my biggest thing is the watch tan line that I’m rocking.

Looks like a great week of training but do respect the taper! You gotta be fresh for the big day. Big difference in 70 and 80 miles even though I can barely comprehend those numbers with my peasily little 40-45 mpw. Good luck with this week and all the craziness that comes with it!

I need you to keep reminding me to respect the taper. I need to write it in lipstick all over my bathroom mirror. But then I’d need to go buy lipstick.

Ouch that burn looks painful! My shoulders, chest, and upper back burn easily. I sunburn in little slivers where I forget to apply sunscreen.
Your weather is similar to ours: hot as Satan’s balls, to use Ryan’s terminology. Crass but so is this heat. But it’s supposed to be cool for Seattle RNR!

It IS??!?!!? HOW DO YOU KNOW???!?!?! Americans can tell the weather from this far away?!?!?!?! You guys get EVERYTHING.

OMG woman you are a machine!!!! Holy run week!
It’s hazy, hot and humid in the Northeast and we have been having rain so it blows big time. I want to go back to Italy where it was 75 and sunny every.damn.day. wahhhhhhh

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 6, 2016, 6:22 am

Oh, 75 is perfect! I want to go to Italy too. For some reason I always imagined Italy being way hotter than 75. Welcome home, though! As much as I love going away, I really do love coming back home.

  • Susie @ Suzlyfe June 6, 2016, 6:20 am

You saying you are going to run less is like me saying I’m going to eat fewer vegetables. IE I’ll believe it when I see it.
I believe in that tan line, though.

  • Christina @ The Athletarian June 6, 2016, 7:15 am

34!! Wow that’s hot. It’s been in the mid 20s here…some days a little too humid for my liking. I got burnt on my neck and shoulders on the weekend! I put sunscreen on but I guess I missed some spots. Boo.

Crazy run week! I’m with Susie…except you saying you’re going to run less is like me saying I’m going to eat MORE vegetables. Lol. GOOD LUCK to us both.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 6, 2016, 6:20 pm

      Veggies what?

      LOL yeah. I give up.

  • Meredith @ cookie ChRUNicles June 6, 2016, 3:47 pm

The weather is finicky here now. It’s been warm and humid, very stormy yesterday and now cooling down this week. I’m just happy it’s super light when I head out for my runs in the morning!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 6, 2016, 6:20 pm

I love the pictures of your early morning runs. The cool crisp air with the sunrises are the BEST way to start the day.

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets June 7, 2016, 6:47 am

I am so judging your eighty miles. Nicely though. Run less this week, she says while blowing a kiss.

P.S. You can judge my Housewives of Texas watching. I would understand.
