Mileage Monday

Monday– I can’t believe I misjudged my long run day! I was supposed to do it last weekend but this was the only day that worked for both me and Lora. This was probably the best 20 mile run I’ve ever done! Lora and I met at 8am and ran 20 miles at an average 7:54 min/mile pace with the last few miles at 7 min/miles. I’m feeling confident! I wish I could bring Lora with me on race day!

Tuesday– 5 early treadmill miles. Slow. Stupid.

Wednesday– Speed work work work work work work. I feel like the queen of the world right now. I ran 6×1 mile repeats at a 6:31 min/mile pace with 400m recoveries which happens to be the exact same workout I did 10 days before the Seattle marathon in June. So….. maybe I’m not that far behind after-all, eh?

Thursday– Just 5 miles around the neighborhood this morning before Freddy and Katie had their high school/middle school orientations.

Friday– Callum had a crazy hot fever last night and woke up hallucinating and freeeeeaking out and didn’t go back to sleep for a few hours so I was too tired to get up and run this morning so I ran an easy 5 later on the treadmill while he napped.

Saturday– 5 treadmill miles in the morning while Callum slept.

Sunday– Okay so, this run is being logged in faith because it hasn’t been done yet. I had to bring Callum to the hospital today (he’s fine–he’s had a fever for 3-4 days and broke out in a rash but it’s just a nasty virus) so I’m waiting for Andrew and Kylah and Ethan to get home from Kylah’s soccer game and then I’m going to go for a 6 mile run so that I can make this a nice and even 55 mile week! Jesus take the wheel.

Do you think I’m jinxing myself by logging an unrun run?

The un-run run is only 6 miles so I really wouldn’t worry much about it but I bet you did it so no need to worry. Looks like a great week of training and hooray for having a great long run and following it up with the mile repeats later in the week! Can’t beat going into a race with some good workouts under your belt :).

Thanks Amy! I am so curious to see how this marathon pans out!

My guess is you did the 6 miles but if you didn’t, who cares!? I am sorry Callum has been sick. 🙁 I hope he feels better soon.

I love your carefree attitude lately! It’s rubbing off on me, you awesome sicko! 🙂 Yes, he’s feeling better bit by bit.

Feel better little guy! Girl, you are in taper, and I agree with Meg–if you get it, great, if not, you’ve already logged the good stuff.

I got it, and it felt amazing! I haven’t run at night in a long time.

Poor Callum. I’d send him breast milk but I don’t think it’d still be good by the time it gets there. Speaking of which, did you know nursing is two way communication? If the baby is sick, the baby’s saliva communicates to the breast to say what antibodies it needs, and the breast in turn creates the perfect medicine for that particular sickness. Crazy and amazing shit, eh?

    Also hooray running. 🙂

Yep, but because I’m so self-centred, my favourite part about nursing is its convenience. 🙂

I hope Callum feels better! Whether you got in the 6 miles or not, you are ready for this marathon! Keep on tapering well and I’m excited to see how you do at Skagit. The weather is looking like it should be ideal!

I would be more worried that you ended up running MORE than 6 miles, but I guess you would really have to do 11 to make it a 60 mile week then? Hopefully you stopped at 6! Sometimes I would write recaps before runs actually happened, and I always felt like I was jinxing myself. Hope Callum is feeling better!

Oh you know me well, Lisa! Trust me, that 60 was tempting, but yes I did stop at 6.

Did Callum have Roseola? My son had it too when he was a baby and that high fever is scary!!! Just wanted to thank you for posting so consistently, even with your incredibly crazy life. I really enjoy your blog. : )

That is such a nice thing to tell me! Awe, I really appreciate that! And the whole Roseola thing… hmmm!! I’m not sure, so I’m going to Google it now!
