Mileage Monday

My sore heel from last week slowly got better with each passing day and now it feels ship shape. I ran every single mile of this week’s 50 miles on the treadmill because our sidewalks are all frozen. It’s getting a bit tedious, although I am thankful that we have a treadmill here at home. I can’t imagine having to drag Callum to the gym every day!

Monday– I put the treadmill on an incline to take pressure off my heel, and ran 8 miles at an 8 min/mile pace.

Tuesday– A slow and easy 5 miles on the treadmill this morning. And then my van wouldn’t start so I was stuck at home all day and decided to run out the anger for another 5 miles.

Wednesday– Just a slow and easy 5 on the treadmill.

Thursday– I warmed up for 2 miles, then did 6×1 mile repeats at a 6:40 min/mile pace and then cooled down for 1200m to make it 10 miles total. I recovered for 400m between mile repeats.

Friday– Slow and easy 5 miles on the treadmill.

Saturday– A solid 6 miler on the treadmill at an average 7 min/mile clip.

Sunday– I  had to get up at 5:45 to drive Jake to work so I just came back and ran 6 miles on the treadmill. I can’t wait to be able to run outside again!

Have you guys ever ran an entire week’s worth of running on the treadmill? What’s your longest stretch of treadmill running?

This is a first ever in the history of running for me!

Ugh I am sorry you were stuck inside all week! That must have been so monotonous but I would rather run on a treadmill than not at all, so good you have that option. It snowed and iced Friday night but finally around 3pm on Saturday there was enough clear roads for me to run. I had to run really boring loops and small out and backs to avoid the bad roads.

I don’t think I ran more than 3-4 days in a row on the treadmill, that’s my best guess. The most MILES at a time I ran on the treadmill was 18! I was supposed to run a 50k but had to turn around halfway there because the weather was getting so bad. I drove straight to the gym to run out my anger about not being able to do the race!

When you get PF, do you just feel it in your feel or across your whole plantar fascia? I feel it all down the bottom of my foot.

I wish I could lift my foot up and show you where it hurts. Oh wait, I can do that on Snapchat! I would have done the same thing as you re that cancelled 50k and the 18 mile treadmill run. Although that is a LONG MF run on the treadmill. WOW.

Yes, ma’am, I’ve been there, done that. Especially when the boys were little. It’s so cold and snowy here and I considered taking my run to the mill, but the sun is out, so I bundled up and went. Best.decision.ever. I had a decent run (even in my YakTrax) and nailed my jump shot. Because, priorities. My mood is good.

I loved your jump shot on instagram this morning. You’re all kinds of awesome.

I have definitely had weeks in the winter where the treadmill Is it! Hopefully the winter won’t be too bad this year so that we get some breaks to get outside.

We don’t usually get extreme weather up here so we’ve been quite spoiled. I like being spoiled.

I think my record is two days in a row on the treadmill lol! I’m sure if it would be different if I had one in my house, but being in one at the gym is the worst form of torture. I run to get away from people, and here I’m surrounded by them! Plus it’s stinky and the treadmill shuts off every few miles because of the dumb time limits…it’s seriously the worst. BUT..it’s better than hurting yourself on icy sidewalks.

Oh, I can’t staaaaaand gyms. I have a kinesiology degree and so many of my classmates went on to become personal trainers, but there is no way that I could do that. I feel claustrophobic in a gym setting, and I’m sensitive to smells.

Last winter I couldn’t run outside for a week because of the ice. I think I did maybe 3 treadmill runs and probably couldn’t handle more than that! But when I lived in an apartment with a community gym I used to run on the treadmill every day in the winter!

I’ve only ever used treadmill runs as supplementary miles; I’m hoping that I’m not aggravating my body or developing injuries by changing it up like this!

So much treadmill running! In college and grad school I ran my 20-25 miles per week exclusively on the treadmill for convenience and climate control. Now I can’t stand the treadmill!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 19, 2016, 10:26 am

Yeah, its convenience is about the only thing it has going for it!

Oh wow!! A first, huh? I don’t know why this surprises me. I think of you as my treadmill Queen…I-bow-to-you

We just got a treadmill as you know, and I have yet to run on it! LOL! I don’t think I’d do all my week’s running on it as in Arizona, we get more good weather days than bad. But, I’m definitely excited to have the treadmill as an option now 🙂

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 19, 2016, 10:25 am

The treadmill is perfect for being just that: an OPTION. Too much is too much.

  • San December 19, 2016, 10:09 am

I’ve been mostly going to the gym the last few weeks, because running outside (even though no ice on the sidewalks over here) in the dark, early morning hours is just not an option… and I don’t mind the treadmill so much, I have to say. I do get out though when I can.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 19, 2016, 10:24 am

I could do the gym if it meant sitting in the hot tub after!

  • Ana December 19, 2016, 10:18 am

I hope your heel is feeling better!

Wow!! that is a LOT of miles on the treadmill! are you expecting nicer weather soon? our sidewalks are frozen now, but the weather is scheduled to warm up.

The longest run I’ve had in a treadmill was 8 miles. After a big snow storm, all of our trails were covered in 1 foot of snow.

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets December 20, 2016, 12:57 pm

It’s like a sheet of ice here too. I don’t even want to walk outside much less run. I’ve got an elliptical in the basement and as soon as I get through the holidays, I’ll hop back on that again.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com December 20, 2016, 2:50 pm

See, I’d need to exercise TO get through the holidays. It was an extreme struggle for me last year having that sore back and not being able to move. Man oh man am I ever grateful for my health this year. Holy shit and hallelujah.
