Pregnant and Running: 28 Week Update

This is the last 6 miles of the marathon right here: the third trimester. I tend to have my babies early, so I’ve got about 9 or 10 weeks left until we meet this baby boy!

I don’t really have too much to add here for this week other than I’ve noticed an increase in practice contractions which is pretty typical for me. I know the difference between practice ones and the real deal and I’m being careful to stay on the safe side of things.

I gained about a pound and a half last week which brings me up to 136lb for a total of 13-16lb. I can definitely feel the baby growing as he’s taking over not only my body but my sleep and my digestive system. I can’t count how many times I’ve barfed in my mouth while bending over to pick something up. Super sexy.

I’ve been craving feta cheese like crazy. I go through about 3 of those Kraft bags of seasoned feta bits per week. I just open it up and eat it with a soup spoon. Yes, the cheese is pasturized. I’m also on an overnight oatmeal kick, mostly because I can eat it late at night or in the middle of the night and even if I have indigestion, it’s pretty neutral-tasting so it’s not super acidic coming up. Ha ha! I dump some old fashioned oats into a container, add a bunch of chia seeds, a scoop of strawberry protein powder and then drown it all in unsweetened vanilla almond milk. The next day, I scoop it into a bowl, sprinkle milk chocolate chips on top and heat it up in the microwave for a minute. It’s everything. Oh, sometimes I’ll add some raspberries or something to it too. You guys gotta try it.

Running is going well, but more details can be found on my Mileage Monday post.

I think that’s it!

Do you guys have any questions? I feel like I’ve done this so many times that I’m missing a lot of info that I just assume everyone knows.

You look amazing and I think it’s so neat you’re chronicaling your pregnancy on the blog. Glad you are still able to run and hooray for being 2/3 of the way to the finish line ;).

What’s really great to see is that you’ve continued to gain a healthy weight while training like a madwoman! You must be eating a ton. Keep up the good work.

You know what’s weird? When I do these 10 mile runs at like 9-10 min/mile pace, it feels like I’m not even working hard, so I don’t even know if it’s burning any more calories than what I’d burn on a trek around the zoo or playing at the park with Callum. I don’t feel like I eat a whole lot more than usual. Actually, maybe I pack it in during the night and just before bed. Yeah, that’s probably when it happens.

I tend to not like overnight oats but the ones you’re describing…so easy and delicious? I may just have to test it out!!
And I cannot believe you’re almost to the finish line 😉

I tend to not like anything healthy unless they’re covered in chocolate chips. Get the milk chocolate kind, Chipits brand. The cookie recipe on the back is my favourite one too.

God speed my friend, god speed.

I loathed every minute of the third trimester. Well except for that day I went out and bought $25 worth of gelato. Or the time I ate girl scout cookies in the bathtub.
