Selfie Check

Yesterday I woke up at 6 so that I could meet Lora at 7 to run 15 miles and then I woke up at 7 this morning to run 6 miles. It feels really great to get my run done so early but then I notice lately, especially with the cutback in miles, that I feel antsy later in the day and really feel like getting out for a run. As much as I wanted to head out again this afternoon, I reined it in and did other things instead.

I tried to take a picture of myself running and omg I feel so dorky. SO DORKY.

And this is what technology does to developing minds. Don’t do it. Well, unless you need a break from toddlers screaming the “F” word.

This is how mommies deal with toddlers and this ain’t no iced coffee.

I can’t even stand how much I love this man, and how much he loves our kids. This picture says it all.

I even trust him enough to cut my hair! He did a great job.

There. So I never would have been able to do all this if I went out and ran another 6 miles, right? Balance, right? YASSSS.

Do you ever cut your own hair, or let a family member do it? Or do you always go to a professional?

Does the humidity make your hair as big as mine?

Do you feel really dorky and awkward when you take selfies?

Omg, did you see my selfie attempt on insta? Comedy. I don’t know how others make it look so easy, lol

Yes and I laughed so hard because I relate!!!

Your hair is so pretty and long! I like the experience of salon haircuts but actually dislike spending the time and money on them so I only get them 2-3 times per year. I’ve taken scissors to my own hair before for trims.
I feel like the biggest dork when I take selfies. I usually just prop up my phone and take a slow-mo video while running back and forth past my phone or use self-timer. I get the strangest looks from cyclists. Your selfie is so adorable and look at that powerful running stride!

Ohhhhh I forgot about the salon head massages while they shampoo… hmmm… okay, I miss those. I miss those a lot.

Great goal setting and goal success. You’re an inspiration whether you run 40 or 90 miles a week! Way to mix it up and calm anxieties in other ways. I refuse to cut my hair or others hair. However, my husband went through a phase of cutting his own hair – he was really proud of his skill and thought he looked totally awesome but when he sat in the sunlight it looked like a beaver cut his hair.

One good selfie takes about 20 shots.

Isn’t it the best feeling to look at your husband and feel monster amounts of love! That’s how I feel about My Sugar Love! Hope everyone has a chance to feel that monster love and remember it when times get tough.

I laughed our loud at the beaver cutting image. The sunlight is CRUEL sometimes! Ha ha ha ha!!!! Thanks Shelia!

When I was in high school I used to cut my friends’ hair. It was definitely easier to cut straight hair than curly hair! I don’t think anyone ever cut mine though. I hate the process and cost of going to a salon and getting a haircut.
I feel so strange taking selfies when running. I never take them right around where I live because I don’t want anyone I know to see me!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 21, 2016, 6:42 am

See, curlier hair I think is easier just because it’s more forgiving. I HOPE!!!

I”m horrific at selfies. I can’t get the angles right. Ever. I’m so glad that you have this newfound balance and freedom! And I cut Alex’s hair, but there is no way in hell I would let him cut mine.

I think it’s because we didn’t grow up practicing selfies in our teenage years like the kids these days!

My mom used to cut my hair growing up, but one time she did it and I passed out! After that I only went to a professional 🙂 I also feel really dorky when taking pics of my self and will make sure NO ONE will walk in on me doing that! You look great though…such good form!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 21, 2016, 6:41 am

Okay that made me laugh… because once in a while Andrew or my kids will walk in on me taking a selfie and I swear my self worth takes a nose dive. Laughing brings it right back up, though. 🙂

I can’t figure out how to take cool running pictures, but then again I never really tried! So many bloggers have awesome shots of them running. I let Paul cut my hair twice last year! Like you, my hair is curly, so it matters less if it is cut absolutely straight.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 21, 2016, 6:40 am

I thought about you when I asked that question because I remember you telling us that Paul cuts your hair. LOVE IT.

Years ago, I cut everybody’s hair, including my own lots of the time. It used to annoy me because everyone got free haircuts, thanks to me, and I had to pay at a salon, so I stopped cutting. Now I get the free haircuts. My live-in ex trims my hair for me, no he’s not a hairdresser. My hair is super thin, long, straight, all one length and takes very little time to trim, so I hate to pay to have someone trim my 10 hairs!
I feel ridiculous taking selfies and I look ridiculous in them.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 21, 2016, 6:40 am

Don’t you feel like the champion though, that we get to save so much money on hair cuts?!?! I feel like I found a secret world.

  • Amy Lauren July 21, 2016, 6:40 am

I’d never be able to take a pic of myself running like that. I don’t know how people do it. It’s all I can do to get my run in, much less worry about a pic.

I get my hair cut whenever I get a coupon in the mail where haircuts are $11.99 or whatever at Famous Hair. I don’t have a regular schedule for haircuts, I just go when I receive that coupon and feel like I need a haircut haha. I really should dye my hair right now because it’s looking light and shabby!

Maybe try some cross training in the afternoon if you’re antsy to move? I went to a yoga class last night and holy core… I found core muscles I didn’t know I had. Guess this is my weakness…

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 21, 2016, 9:37 am

I feel like Andrew would do a better job than a stylist because stylists sometimes get all artsy and end up taking way too much length off, whereas while Andrew was cutting my hair I was constantly threatening him to be careful. I couldn’t do that to a perfect stranger.

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets July 21, 2016, 6:59 am

I used to be self conscious taking selfies and now I’m an old pro. It’s gets easier with time, just like taking the afternoons off from running.

I love the picture of Andrew and Callum. My little seven year old nephew says the F word, although in his case it’s Focus. Ha!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 21, 2016, 9:38 am

Oh I WISH Callum was only saying focus. UGH.

  • Nikki Gilson July 24, 2016, 2:38 pm

That picture of Andrew and Callum on the pier is SUCH a good picture!
Oh goodness, I beg Phil to brush my hair all the time, but cut it?! Laaaaaawd NO! I wouldn’t have hair left. haha

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 24, 2016, 2:43 pm

Andrew is such a poser so I like to get photos of him when he’s unaware. They’re the best ones.
