Week in Review

Linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets for this week’s Week in Review!

I will write more about this in tomorrow’s post but this past week stands out from the rest not just in stress levels (holy shit) but in… drumroll pleaseHEALTHY EATING. I won’t crop dust you with details quite yet, but as a sneak peak, my Monday consisted of making lists, buying groceries, chopping veggies and roasting them. Oh, and actually eating them. WHO AM I. I also picked up Jake and he and I met my mom for coffee so that she could give him his birthday card. They hadn’t seen each other in a while and so it was a sweet reunion.

And this was the day that I took photos of my cat.

And this is Brandy now, one year later in the same spot on the same couch:

We had a gorgeous sunny week so Callum and I spent a lot of time at the park, except with all the water I was drinking, I ended up needing to use the port-a-potty. Which is, like, bad enough. But guess what? I GOT LOCKED INSIDE. I panicked so hard that I gave myself a blood blister on my thumb trying to bust out. I don’t even want to talk about it.

I started doing core work. I’m doing 100 sit-ups, 30 push-ups, 30 bridges and 30 bridge thingie wingies.

We had Jake’s birthday on Wednesday. I brought him a coffee in the morning and then we took him out for Indian food for dinner. I’ve never seen such a skinny kid eat so much butter chicken in my life. Thursday was garbage day. I posted a picture on Snapchat because it’s too embarrassing to post anywhere else that holds it longer than 24 hours. Follow me if you want the inside scoop! My username is suzyhastheruns.

The kids ran the Terry Fox run and then I picked up Freddy to take him to get new soccer boots. He showed up wearing his Terry Fox sticker, dedicated to “Walter White” who is apparently a character on a show called Breaking Bad. I don’t watch TV so I’m out of the loop, but I scolded Freddy anyway.

Freddy and Callum made a giant mess with cones while the owner of the soccer store and I talked running.

Oh! Besides all the veggies, I also made pumpkin bread with cream cheese icing. It was SO GOOD! I still ate junk but I made sure to fill my bellayyy up with the green stuff first so I probably didn’t eat as much junk as I usually do just for lack of room.

The kids didn’t have school on Friday, so I went for a run while Ethan and Katie spotted Callum. In the afternoon I took Freddy and Katie into Langley and dropped Katie off at my parents’ house, and then we picked up Freddy’s friend Gabe (they’ve been friends since they were in my and Jane’s tummies!) and brought him back here for a sleepover. Callum and I chilled on the couch.

On Saturday I did some blog work…

…and then met Christy for lunch where we had a super huge cry/laugh/stress/life catch-up. SO NEEDED.

Then Grandpa and Grandma Slane took Callum for the night and Andrew and I headed to El Nopal for date night. Then on Sunday we went shopping for some new jeans for Andrew.

He didn’t buy the shirt. 🙁

Then Callum fell asleep in the stroller (he wasn’t feeling well).

We stopped for dinner while Callum kept sleeping.

Even though we woke him up with ice cream, the little guy still wasn’t thrilled about having his sleep disrupted.

We stayed up late last night, had some wine and danced around the kitchen. Now it’s Monday morning, and here we go again!

What’s the highlight of your week last week?

Anyone else battling a virus or two?

Do you own any shirts with inappropriate graphics?

    Brandy is so beautiful!

Way to eat your veggies and do your strength exercises! What kind of veggies did you get?

I have not been into food lately. Like, I get hungry, but nothing at all sounds good. We’re going to the grocery store to look for food today but I don’t even know what I’m in the mood for.

Well, you’ll have to wait until tomorrow to hear about the veggies.

I’ve been way more into salty savory snacks than chocolate, which is super weird for me! I’d slap a granny for Thai lettuce wraps right now.

That face in the last picture!! He is not happy!! And is the picture with the finger on the nose going to be on a yearbook for HS ? or a wedding picture? I love it!

Highlight of my week was when my kid came home, and was agreeable to homework and eating dinner one night… that’s a mom’s life for ya!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com September 26, 2016, 5:06 pm

Agreeable to homework is one thing, but agreeable to EATING DINNER TOO? ALL IN ONE NIGHT? Ha ha ha. Ya, kids are fun. I remember my mom forcing me to eat my bowl of stew. I would rather starve, but she wouldn’t let me leave the table until the stew was done. I chewed it and spat it into my napkin.

Your family is basically my spirit animal. cat, Callum, that shirt… Just yes. I used to have several inappropriate shirts, and some that were inappropriate simply because I had giant bassoombas and the characters screen printed were in strategic spots. But I’m a child of the 90s. We lived for screen prints and sass. And Lisa Frank and jelly roll pins.

I think you were a teenager when my eldest 3 were small, and that was the era of my huge titties crammed inside tiny little graphic print tees. I had leaking milk marks, but oh well. We didn’t have smart phones back then so what nobody saw didn’t really happen.

Every day is the day I take photos of my cat. Maybe I shouldn’t have admitted that. Oh well, I’m in good company.

I’m not sure if I like just woken Callum or nose picking Callum better.

Andrew should have bought the shirt.

The Hubby and I need a date night.

My favorite part of this post though is all the veggies you bought and consumed. I can’t wait to hear all the dirty details.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com September 26, 2016, 5:03 pm

Dirty details of my naughty veggie consumption on tap for tomorrow.

  • Gretchen September 26, 2016, 2:27 pm

I’m so proud of you eating healthier Suzy! Seriously..just doing all the planning is the hardest part. If you need any ideas for food or some support I’m only a snap or facetime away 🙂

I think the viruses are spreading out now..last week everyone at work including me got sick, and now it’s up to Canada eh? Poor Callum..hope he feels better soon 🙁

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com September 26, 2016, 5:00 pm

Nicely played on the “eh” placement, you cheeky monkey. And yes, you’re my veggie guru. I need all the help I can get.

  • Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine September 26, 2016, 2:53 pm

You got locked in a porta potty?! Oh that sounds awful!!
Awesome job with the veggies AND the strength training!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com September 26, 2016, 5:00 pm

I KNOW RIGHT? It was the most terrifying minute of my LIFE.

  • Meredith @cookie chrunicles September 26, 2016, 3:11 pm

Totally battling a virus! Geez it must really be going around. I love how your cat sits lol. Cracks me up. And I love the food prep and healthy food, with the junk added in. Who could live solely on the green stuff?!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com September 26, 2016, 4:59 pm

I honestly don’t know whose colon could handle 100% health food. I have stomach cramps just thinking about it.

  • Allie September 27, 2016, 2:49 am

Totally battling sickness over here and it’s the worst ever. Well, not worse than being stuck in a port-o-potty!!! OMG!!!
    Walter White is da bomb.
I love that you ate healthy…at least once 🙂

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com September 27, 2016, 8:22 am

Yeah! And I’m still going strong. I just polished off leftover cheesecake for breakfast, but I make sure to eat tonnes of fruits and veggies for the rest of the day, and lots and lots of water.

  • Laura @ This Runner's Recipes September 27, 2016, 5:29 am

Yay for eating vegetables! I am proud of you.
Callum makes the same face I do when woken up from a nap.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com September 27, 2016, 8:21 am

He wears his heart on his face, just like his mama.
