Oh my goodness. I barely even remember this past week; it was so frigging busy. All I can do is jot down snippets of whatever my brain regurgitates as I type out this post. Linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets, here is this week’s Week in Review!
I remember going to Kylah’s basketball game with Katie and Callum and Andrew on Wednesday night. Kylah is living with us right now full time, so it was nice to be able to see Ethan for a bit, even if it was a short visit. We sent Ethan out with Andrew on Friday night for Andrew’s birthday, and they got to have some guy time and catch up on life.
Thursday was Andrew’s actual birthday, so while he went to another one of Kylah’s basketball games, Jake and his friend came over for some supper. Once Callum went to bed, Andrew and I met his parents at Sneakers for some drinks and appies. I ended up ordering a Ceasar (I know, I know… I didn’t try anything new!) and shrimp tacos. But get this: I ate the leftover shrimp tacos seconds before I ran my 10 mile run on Friday and I burped spicy fish taste for a solid hour and twenty minutes. IT WAS SO GROSS.
A few times during the week last week I’d catch myself literally running around the house so that I could get everything done on time. My kids would ask if they could help me but it was just way faster for me to burn around the house in my Nike Frees and do it myself.
Oh! I just remembered! We took Callum to see Santa on Monday. He was so excited and then just as he got plunked onto Santa’s lap, he started to cry a bit but he toughed it out like a champ.
He’s getting more courageous with each passing year.
We had massive snow on Thursday night, so Callum spent the next 48 hours eating the stuff.
All the soccer games were cancelled for the weekend so Andrew and I left the kids with his mom and we took off to Vancouver for the night. We had lunch at the Irish pub, dinner at the Keg, and drinks when we went to Theatre Sports on Granville Island. We had SO much fun. I probably drank about 5L of water over the course of the entire day, so I spent the majority of my time in the bathroom. Know what’s cool, though? I tried gin and tonic for the first time. AND I LIKED IT! I really liked it, actually. I surprised myself. Andrew stuck to his Crown and Coke which is fine. It’s his tried and true. He’s an old man now, after all. HA!

We went to bed at 1 and got up at around 8 but it was so nice to leisurely lay in bed and sip coffee without any kids giving us pile drivers. Once we came home, we cleaned up and I got a tonne of Christmas wrapping done! I hadn’t run yet so I ended up running after Callum went to bed. It was pretty great to be able to run at night; I haven’t done that in forever!
I’ve been doing my 100 push-ups like a champ, and that feels good. I’ve also been keeping up with my daily veggie consumption, even downing a baggie of them before we headed into Vancouver on Saturday morning! I’ve put back on a few pounds (I went down to a freaky 115 lb in the summer, and now I’m about 123lb, which is a lot healthier for my 5’7 frame) and my body already feels so much more balanced. Oh! And my bum zits cleared up! So my hormone issues are definitely leveling out too. Despite the stress of the season, I have to say that I feel pretty healthy and happy right now, and I’m thankful.
