Hey hey hey! I’m a little late on this one, I’m sorry! Andrew and I just came back into our hotel room and collapsed onto our cool sheets in a sorry attempt to soothe our sunburns. And when I say sunburns, I mean we got frigging ROASTED. I got so into my book by the pool that I forgot to rotate my burgeoning body like a rotisserie chicken and ended up scorching my body in a straight line. Super. Apparently Andrew’s burn isn’t causing him much grief as he’s sawing logs beside me while I front-load my calories with Toblerone and peanut M&Ms before I succumb the inevitable heat-induced nausea.
Don’t feel sorry for me for one rainy second though. We’re enjoying our trip immensely.
Here’s this week’s Week in Review hosted by my dear friend Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets! While most of the highlights were concentrated on our trip to Arizona, I do have a story to tell from earlier on in the week.
We heard that Bosley’s, our local pet store, was hiring and so Jake got his resume and cover letter together and I brought him in to drop it off. He dressed nicely, and combed his hair except the problem with our hair is that combing it doesn’t make it better–it makes it bigger. I roared with laughter as I watched him walk out with his hair in the air and took a video and put it on Instagram. Here’s a screenshot:
If they don’t hire them, they’re fools. Ha ha!
We set our alarms for 4:15 on Saturday morning and headed to the airport. Andrew’s parents are watching Callum for us and our older kids are with their other parents. It’s tough being away from Callum as he’s still so young but Andrew’s parents assure us that he’s having a great time. I don’t want to talk about him–I’ll get too sad.
Once we got to Phoenix we beelined it for the pool and soaked up some sun. Then we met my cousins and their baby for Mexican food, which was amazing. We were in bed early that night because we had to set our alarms again for an early morning for the race the next day! The race was great. We took it easy, and I had a bit of cramping so even though I ran 13 miles, I didn’t go through the finish line as all I cared about was hydrating my uterus. In all honesty, I had to ditch Andrew at about the 10-11 mile mark so that I could get back to the finish, and I didn’t want to cross the line without him. It just felt wrong. So I watched him come in and then we jumped in the cab back to our hotel where we got to meet Helly again! She also raced that morning but she PR’d the crap out of a 5K in and around Chase stadium. She keeps getting faster and faster. It was SO NICE of her to stick around after her race so that we could give each other some hugs and say hi.
Andrew and I showered and then headed over to Chase stadium ourselves to watch the Diamondbacks play the Cleveland Indians.
We were mostly there for the food and it showed, because we left before the game started. Don’t ask which inning; it’s embarrassing. Then we spent the rest of the day by the pool and went out for dinner to a place called Oregano’s (I usually DGAF about food but this place? WAS PHENOMENAL). Because I’m not a food blogger, I don’t feel pressured to take photos of food.
Well, I’m off to apply ice packs to my already blistering feet. We’re heading home tomorrow, and right after I smother my babies with kisses and love, I’ll get up a weekly pregnancy post for you guys.
When and where did you get your worst sunburn?
Have you ever had to sit beside a grossly overweight person and their body mass was spilling into your seat, and you yourself could not fit into the seat you paid for? I’m asking for a friend.
