Week in Review

If I didn’t take pictures then I swear I wouldn’t know what on earth I spend my time doing each day. So when it’s one of those crazy busy weeks where I don’t take pics, then my Week in Review ends up being pretty anorexic.

Thankfully, I’ve got a few pics from this week. My phone doesn’t have enough storage space so I take pics/videos on Instagram stories and then take screenshots of those. I AM SO SMRT. So, in no particular order, and with due respect to our sexy host Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets of yet another Week in Review, here’s what we’ve been up to:

I got to run alone in the sunny and hot afternoon along the trails I used to run regularly a few years ago. There are bears in there, with fecal evidence sprinkled throughout the winding gravel trail, but so far, crossing fingers, the fleshy bits on my thighs and hips have not yet been used as condiments by the large, dark and handsome type. I did, however, stumble across this crowd of geese and I had to stop to take a picture because I loved how there was one goose up front, a leader, for no particular reason (that I know of, anyway) who was guiding the group along the murky water toward something quite important.

A leader is a dealer in hope.”-Napoleon Bonaparte

Callum loves going to Fort Langley to look at the trains so I rang up my mom and asked her if she could meet us there one rainy afternoon! I love this photo of the two of them SO MUCH:

There are usually at least two trains that come by during about an hour’s time but on this particular day, waiting for a train took forever.

See my Chariot in the background? I used to push Jake in that stroller when he was a baby! Jake got a hair cut this week, actually. Jason took him and sent me photos of the before and after!

Before:

After:

Isn’t he cuuuuuute?!?!? My first baby. <3

Okay so what else, what else… Oh yeah. So Callum woke up at an absurd hour and ended up falling asleep in the middle of the day one day which made for an impossibly late bedtime, but adorable in the meantime.

I was able to clip his fingernails and toenails while he slept which is amazing, because when I try to do those things while he’s awake, I usually end up getting kicked in the face.

It was just Andrew, Callum and I on Saturday and Sunday so we headed to El Nopal for dinner on Saturday night and killed ourselves laughing at this bumper sticker:

Sunday ended up being warm and sunny so we drove into Vancouver to Spanish Banks beach. It was a bit too cold at first but it warmed up as the day went on.

Callum’ favourite thing to do is play in the sand with his trucks!

After the beach, we dropped Callum off at Andrew’s parents’ house and we went out for dinner together for date night. It was SO NEEDED. Then we picked up Callum and went to bed early!

What is your favourite quote right now?

What is the best bumper sticker you’ve ever seen?

Do you have any bumper stickers on your vehicle?

I used to clip benji’s nails in his sleep too! lol in the car seat was the best during afternoon naps. ha, I kept the clipper in the car for that reason. wonderful memories! I used to have the 13.1 on my car but then when I got my new car, I sort of forgot to take the magnet back from my old car! oops.

You are so smart for keeping clippers in the car! What a great idea!!!! You probably have a tonne of organizational tips like that. I need you to give me more advice!

That is a sweet pic of Callum and your mom- AND of Katie! They are best buds, aren’t they? Jake looks so handsome with short hair. I have a magnet on my bumper, it is a Hillary magnet- a blue H with a red arrow going across it. I don’t know if I will ever take it off. Well, I will at least keep it on until our piece of shit president is out of office.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 5, 2017, 6:36 pm

Yes, Katie and Callum have a super special relationship and I LOVE that you can see it. This makes me so happy. I’m pretty sure he cares more about her than anyone else, including me and Andrew, and Santa. I’m serious.

I can’t wait until that guy is gone too.

I love that picture of your mom and Callum!! And the one with Katie!! and the one of Jake!! What a gorgeous family you all are!!

Does Callum have Thomas toys? My son used to love Thomas everything! he had a Thomas birthday party when he turned 2! I will have to dig out those pictures! Does Callum have a conductor hat?

I don’t have any bumper magnets… I used to have a 26.2, and it was giving me too much of a power trip.. I found myself cutting off 13.1 and 5K drivers and realized it needed to come off.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 5, 2017, 6:35 pm

Ohhhh thank you!!! They make it easy for me to take photos. Yes, Callum LOVES Thomas ANYTHING. He doesn’t have a conductor hat though!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one. I’ll have to keep an eye out for one!

Your bumper sticker comment made me laugh. I feel like I know you so well by the way you write. I think we’d get along and have the BEST times.

Decent weather with kids makes such a huge difference, on all of us. I’m so glad you guys got out and enjoyed it too. Also, a solo date = awesome sauce. I’m envious. My Hubby worked all week and weekend BUT the up side is he’s off today and tomorrow and then again this weekend. It’s worth it for a three day work week.

The picture of Callum and your mom is fabulous. I can see why you like it.
I can’t believe you can trim his nails when he’s passed out. I’d be terrified Ave would wake up and kick me in the head. We distract her with Baby Einstein now or we’d never get them done.

Jake’s super cute with short hair. I like it.

I haven’t been able to watch the video you sent me yet because Callum has been a cling-on and the second I cue it up, he’ll steal my phone from me and have a tantrum when I take it back. These kids are dictators.

You run on trails with bears?! That would really freak me out, especially to be out there alone. The view does look beautiful though! I love all your pics this week- great job remembering to take them!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 5, 2017, 6:31 pm

Yeah, I’ve definitely been scared before, but man does it ever help the pace. I’m glad you liked the photos. I’m going to do a better job at remembering to take them!

That really looks like a great week! I love the pic of you mom and Callum, too. Super sweet! Your oldest’s haircut came out great! Does he like it? Did he want to go that short?
Luckily, my kids are good with me cutting their nails. It’s one of the things I’ve been thankful for that I don’t have to struggle with. Instead, they give me grief about eating (they’re SO picky).
I saw a really cool bumper sticker the other day but now I can’t remember it. Go figure. And we’re not bumper sticker people, lol!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 6, 2017, 7:28 pm

Jake wasn’t toooootally for the haircut but he needs a job and he realized that the hair wasn’t helping. I’m not a bumper sticker person either, although I have forever been tempted to stick one of the back of my mom’s Volvo that says, “If you’re going to ride my ass, at least pull my hair.” It’s on my bucket list. The sticker, not the hair pulling. Been there, done that.

  • Laura @ This Runner's Recipes June 6, 2017, 10:18 am

At least they are probably black bears on those trails, right? My husband loves bears but we haven’t seen one yet (which I think is a good thing!). Although a bear did poke through our campsite near Mt. Rainier last summer until our friend’s girlfriend stumbled out of their tent to pee and accidentally scared it away.
I have a Phi Beta Kappa (arts & sciences honors society) sticker on my car from college. In retrospect, I think it probably makes me look like a huge a-hole.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 6, 2017, 7:26 pm

HA HA! Love the a-hole comment. So great. I always roll my eyes at other parent’s bumper stickers that say, “my child is a blah blah student somewhere fancy.” Those parents also only ever had sex once in their lives.
