Week in Review

Well, last week was the official start of summer around here, with sunny skies and high school kids off school (the rest are done this week). Let’s give a round of applause to my good friend Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets, who is not only the best cook I’ve ever known (and I haven’t tasted a single thing she’s made–she’s that good) but she’s also funny, clever, compassionate and the host of this week’s Week in Review.

Andrew, Callum and I kicked off the week on Monday with a breakfast out and a trip into Fort Langley to check out the trains. He’s still a bit sensitive to how loud they are so we have to hold him when a train goes by.

We walked down to the park and played hide and go seek.

We spent the majority of the week outdoors. As you can see, I’ve replaced my Corona with Nuun. Not for too much longer…

But I had to reserve one day where we stayed in and got a bunch of stuff done. I got up at 5:45 to run, paid the bills, went to the bank, brought Jake around to apply for jobs, cleaned bathrooms, baked cookies, muffins, cooked 2 shepherd’s pies to put in the freezer, and then made a chicken dinner with mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, the works, for which Jake stayed to eat, which was so great. But man I was tired that day.

Callum made sure to catch up on his sleep in the middle of the kitchen floor.

I wish I could do that. Actually, I’m so tired that I probably could.

The weekend was pretty low-key. It was a cooker (35 C on Sunday) and I even ran right in the middle of the day! I tried to run with my Ray Bans but they slid off my nose and I ended up carrying them. It’s been pretty tough to sleep when the nights are so hot. It’s cooler today so I’m hoping to force-nap Callum in the stroller so that he stays up a bit later tonight and then (crossing fingers) sleeps past 5:30am tomorrow morning. It’s very difficult to be up with a noisy 3 year-old while the rest of the house sleeps until 9. Plus, I’ll be needing to run in the mornings now that it’s so hot and I am not willing to get up at 4am to get home before Callum wakes up at 5:30! NO THANK YOU.

Does it feel like summer where you live?

Where is the weirdest place you’ve ever fallen asleep?

    Your boobies are big!!!!!

I had to go back to my post to see what you were looking at! Yes, they’re huge. At least they feel huge to ME. I went from a 32A to a 32D!!!! WTH. The funny thing about pregnant boobs is that they get dwarfed by the belly but as soon as the baby is born, wha-BAM. Boobies fillin’ up the room.

It feels like hell where I live.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 26, 2017, 5:26 pm

      No doubt.

What is it with these babies who wake up so early! Ave was up at 5:50 today. Ugh. Then she busted out an almost three hour nap this morning which was so out of character and she’ll probably be up until 8 tonight as a result. Like why can’t she add a couple of those hours on in the morning instead? I’d give my left tit for 7 a.m. Alright not my left one. 😉

Soon you will be having Corona. In the meantime, you look fantastic and I’m super impressed with all that cooking. For someone who doesn’t like food, you sure manage to bang it out.

    Happy Monday. Blows kiss.

Yes. I DO bang it out because I have no choice and I hate it! I hate cooking SO MUCH. I wish I loved it. The DNA desire to cook just does not flow through my veins.

I forced Callum to nap today for 45 minutes! It’s going to be REAL interesting how our evening pans out. Hmmm…

Its been really hot here but started to cool off a bit this week. I have fallen asleep on the floor before. Not the kitchen floor, although if I were tired enough I bet I could do it.

I’m a terrible sleeper/napper. I can barely sleep in hotel rooms even if they’re super fancy and comfy! I’m such a homebody. Everything has to be tickety-boo.

You need those goodr sunglasses–they’re only $25, polarized, and stay in place. Best sunglasses ever.

No way! Okay–I’ll look them up. Thanks Wendy!

Thomas the Train was visiting the local Train museum last weekend, I thought Callum would have loved it! I am a grown up, and I LOVE seeing Thomas on the tracks!

The last few weeks have felt like summer!!

I’ll have a corona on your name this weekend.

We’ve got a Thomas train thing in Squamish which is about 2 hours from here (en route to Whistler) and Andrew and I have definitely dabbled with the idea of taking Callum up there to see it. He’d LOVE it!!!

It was SO hot on Sunday! I thought I was going to melt. Thankfully it cooled off a bit at night for us and now it’s nice and pleasant again. My mom has so many photos of me as a child falling asleep in random places, just like Callum. I had two speeds as a toddler: running all over the place, or asleep. I hope he sleeps well for you!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 27, 2017, 6:02 pm

Isn’t the weather INCREDIBLE now?!?! It’s kinda good that it got that hot for a while because now it feels like a dream!!!

  • Susie @ Suzlyfe June 27, 2017, 1:23 pm

My FIL can fall asleep anywhere. Even at red lights. While driving. It has happened.
Ridley and Callum need to get together and wear each other out.

Callum is scared of dogs. We had a dog come into our house and it traumatized him. I’ve been working on the trauma for about 8 months now. It’s slowwwwwly getting better. SIGH
