Week in Review

During the school year, our schedule is pretty consistent in regards to when my kids are with Jason and Natasha and when they’re with us but in the summer it’s a bit of a shuffle because of camps and vacations and such. Every other Monday night has been our date night during the year, and this week was the same so Andrew and Callum and I went to the Cactus Club for dinner. We sat outside on the patio which I loooove doing because the views are to die for and there’s a lot of space for Callum to be… well, to be a 3 year-old.

Next week we’re going to be without all of the big kids for an entire week because my kids are going with Jason’s family on their yearly trip to Oroville. The house is going to feel so empty, but next summer Callum will have a little brother to play with all week!

My dear friend Melody came back for the summer. She’s been teaching in Indonesia. Melody was Jake’s third grade teacher, nearly 10 years ago!

She even let Callum paint her toenails!

This is what I wrote about Mel on Instagram:

Melody is going back to Indonesia for another year, but I’m really hoping she moves back home after that. PLEASE, MEL! PLEEEEASE!!!

Okay, so anyway, we went to the mall and nosed around the shops for something to do. I found some post-partum gonch. What do you guys think? Sexy?

Katie mastered the fierce model look while trying on high heels!

I love how much Callum loves her. He actually cares more about Katie than about anyone else. She turns 12 on Wednesday! I’m super excited for her birthday festivities, but you’ll have to wait until next week for the lowdown.

So, on Friday night, my belly broke out into a rash. I googled it and I diagnosed myself with PUPPPS rash–some funky itchy AF rash that happens during pregnancy in the third trimester. In true Suzy-style, I freaked out, went to the store and bought every single topical cream I could get my mitts on and slathered it all over my belly. I also ordered some weird soap off Amazon that everyone said totally helped them with their own PUPPPS rash.

But when I woke up the next day, it was gone! THANK GOODNESS.

OH! And the very best part of the week last week? THE ULTRASOUND! The technician told us that her measurements estimated the baby to be 5lb which is a bit bigger than what’s typically normal for a baby at 33 weeks gestation. Woohoo! So, of course, I went for a run. Just 3 miles, but it felt great! So great that I ran 15 miles the next day. Ha!

Andrew took Callum down to Whidbey Island to visit his parents and I spent the day running those 15 miles, crossing items off my to-do list before the baby comes, and grocery shopping. Oh! And I had a bath. I haven’t had a bath in forever and it felt amaaazing.

Thanks to Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets for hosting this week’s Week in Review!

Have you guys ever had a full body rash? What was it from? Allergies? Virus? Rashes freak me out!

Have you ever owned a really large pair of underwear? Why? To keep things smooth? Do they work?

omg those giant underpants are hysterical lol I can’t see a reason for them – they would be up to my neck. although do recall a few larger pairs when I was 9 months pregnant lol. totally forgot about that – ha. so happy for you regarding the great sonogram – you knew it too! and yes, a few summers ago I had a HORRIBLE rash on my stomach and legs for weeks from a food allergy. it was the absolutely worst and relentless. I never ate calamari again.

I actually need underpants like that for my boobs more than my down-theres. Hell… who cares. We should just let it all out, wild and free.

That’s really awful about the food allergy. I do not like calamari, and you sealed the deal for me.

I had a similar pair of underwear in high school. My mom bought them for me senior year so that I wouldn’t have a belly showing in my pictures in my white dress for graduation. I actually still had them until recently when I threw them out because they were 14 years old and also too big because I no longer have a belly and am 20+ pound thinner than I was at 17.

Love the pics from your week and that you guys were able to spend some time together as a family and with Melody. She sounds like an awesome teacher to take the kids to celebrate Diwali but I can see where the school wouldn’t like that (ugh). I always wonder what happened to my elementary school teachers. Sadly I think a few have passed away but some are still alive. I doubt any of them still teach though!

White dresses are tricky. You were very brave in high school. Not a lot of people can say they’re 20 lb lighter now than they were in high school. Pretty impressive!

I had a lot of really great teachers but my most memorable one was (unfortunately) the one I hated the most. Mr. Wood. He was my grade 5 teacher and he was really mean to all of us.

Ugh, I had PUPPPS with my daughter toward the end of my pregnancy and was so miserable. Nothing worked at all and the rash didn’t go away until after I gave birth and had to stop taking the placenta pills I had encapsulated. Now I have chronic urticaria and break out in hives just randomly and out of the blue… whenever. I don’t know if it’s related at all, but it’s definitely not my favorite because I never know when I’m going to have hives all over and have to carry antihistamine everywhere. 🙂

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 24, 2017, 9:23 pm

OMG NOOOOOOO. Is chronic urticaria triggered by PUPPPS? This is not good for my hypochondria. I’m already scratching. You poor girl!!!! 🙁

Katie looks fierce on her heels!! she is precious !

Staying in routine during the summer is a mess!

I’m sorry that the kids will be away for 1 week, Do you call them to see how things are? do they text ?

Yes, I have a pair of ginormous underwear in my drawer, and don’t want to throw it out. I don’t like it, because it used to squeeze me, and it feels like it defeats the purpose of everything, since it might slim me down, but I would only wear it while out for a nice dinner, and let’s be real… changes are those will lead to sex and fighting those off is no fun during sexy time.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 24, 2017, 9:22 pm

      She’s awesome.

They’ll be gone for TWO WEEKS. Not just one. Yes, we text and facetime all the time but it’s not the same!

HA HA HA HA!!!!!! I laughed so hard at your description of fighting off your ginormous underwear during sexy time!!!!! YOU RULE!

  • Suzlyfe July 24, 2017, 5:31 pm

I had a pair of spanks. When I was a teenager. Also when I wore the most makeup. Wtf was wrong with me???
My first lair of heels were 2 inches and were my mom’s. Then I got my own first pair of heels and they barely left my feet. I wore them everywhere. In 5th grade.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 24, 2017, 9:20 pm

      You. Are. So. Sassy.

  • Wendy@Taking the Long Way Home July 24, 2017, 5:48 pm

I hate stuff around my waist so those granny panties would not work for me! Even just looking at them gives me the heebie jeebies! LOL

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 24, 2017, 9:18 pm

You hate stuff around your waist? Really? Oh yeah, I guess I can see what you mean. I get claustrophobic with stuff–I’d probably feel like those undies were choking me out.

  • Laura @ This Runner's Recipes July 25, 2017, 9:15 am

I’ve never worn Spanx or other shapewear, but I have some pairs of period underwear that might as well be tents. I got my first pair of high heels around Katie’s age! Then I wore heels all the time when I could (not counting high school uniforms) until I graduated college. Seriously, all 5’9 of me in 4-inch heels just to go to class.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 25, 2017, 4:29 pm

You are totally shitting me right now, right? I can not FOR THE LIFE OF ME imagine you in heels. Four inch heels to boot. UNREAL. And yeah, period underwear is an important part of the wardrobe not because of the obvious but because I don’t want to associate feeling bloated and crampy with my other much more sleek and sexy undies. Negative vibes stay with the big gonch.

  • Megan @ Meg Go Run July 25, 2017, 9:54 pm

I’m like Wendy, I Hate stuff around my waist so I couldn’t do Those! I see those high waisted shorts are back in style and I think for the most part they are really ugly.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com July 26, 2017, 9:48 am

I’m not a fashionable person so I have no idea what’s cool or not anymore!

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets July 30, 2017, 8:08 am

Well at least those giant panties will help hold the ice pack in place post baby. 🙂

I know your going to miss your kiddos this upcoming week and I hope you manage to carve out some relaxing time for yourself before the new addition arrives. I spent the past week with an 8 week old and I can’t believe how tiny she is and that Ave was ever that size.

Katie rocks the model look. Also Callum is so super cute. I love his little smile.
