Week in Review

What a week! We’ve had gorgeous sunny weather and fun, busy days. Thanks to Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets for hosting another Week in Review! Here’s how it all went down:

It was Katie’s 12th birthday on Wednesday but we celebrated it on Monday. I picked her up from her dad’s and we drove out to Langley, dropped Callum off at my friend Kristen’s house and then Katie and I went out for lunch to Moxie’s.

After we picked up Callum from Kristen’s (he loves it there, loves her and her daughter), we picked up my niece and my mom and brought them back home. Katie chose spaghetti for her birthday meal so I made that with meatballs, ceasar salad and garlic bread and we had Dairy Queen ice cream cake for dessert. Jake and his girlfriend came for dinner too, so that was awesome!

I kept my phone recording after the cake and managed to capture Callum yelling “boobies” and “pajina” at the table. Everyone got the giggles which made Callum say it even more. Preschool is going to be interesting this Fall.

On Katie’s actual birthday, I brought her home a sprinkles donut and stuck a candle in it. Here’s a photo of the two of us at a wedding a few days/weeks after she was born twelve years ago!

Katie and Freddy went to Jason’s on Wednesday and they left for their annual Oroville, WA trip with his whole family. I won’t see them for nearly two weeks! It’s always really hard to say goodbye but I know they’re having lots of fun.

I met Lora for a 9 mile run and we geeked out as usual while trying to take a selfie.

I got up early on Friday and went for an 8 mile run and then worked for a few hours on Andrew’s mail-outs. It was on my list of things to do before the baby comes. Oh! I also put together the baby swing and rock ‘n play and packed my hospital bags. Then Friday night, my sister Tracey told me that her boyfriend Jim is racing his Mustang at the race track so Andrew and I took Callum over there to watch some car races! I had never been, and it was SO much fun!

Andrew had two open houses on the weekend so I took Callum to my parent’s pool. For some reason he’s so nervous of the water but he’s getting better! I’ll have to keep going with him to get him used to it.

Sunday was a super productive day. I ran again in the morning and then crossed off a bunch of things on my to-do-before-baby arrives list. Then Andrew’s parents babysat Callum while we went on a date!

Did you ever get to choose a special dinner for your birthday?

I’d always choose spaghetti just because I knew most kids liked it–I never really cared much for food. If I could choose chocolate and Doritos, I would have, but I don’t think my mom would have went for it.

Have you ever been to car races?

That firecracker thing in Katie’s dessert at that restaurant looks awesome. I love it when restaurants do a fun birthday dessert. I was an only child so I usually had parties or my parents just took me out, they always made it special. Good times.

Love the pic of you guys at the pool… you are all baby! I know you probably don’t feel that way but it looks like you swallowed a volleyball or something!

It actually feels like I swallowed a volleyball, because my digestive system is about as efficient as leather right now.

We go to the races every year; usually 1-2 times, but we didn’t make it there last year, and haven’t yet this year. But we still have a month for Friday Night Drags! 🙂

I used to always choose cheese fondue for my birthday dinner 🙂

Ooooooh cheese fondue… GOOD CHOICE! I haven’t had that in forever!!!

I want to be at Katie’s birthday dinner, partially because I always chose spaghetti with homemade sauce too. Although I insisted on an apple pie for dessert. I still prefer a pie to cake these days.

You are rocking that bathing suit, ya sexy minx.

Hooray to getting baby stuff done. Each item you knock off makes you feel that much more prepared for the newest addition to arrive….soon now. I’m excited for you.

Oh, you would have REALLY enjoyed Katie’s birthday dinner.. ha ha! I’m not much of a cake fan either. My three oldest kids don’t like cake at all–unless it’s ice cream cake.

Totally getting so much stuff done! Now I’m sitting around watching YouTube videos of women giving birth, and bawling my eyes out. I’m so excited!

Cutest preg lady ever. Also the fittest. Damn, mama.
We always got to choose our birthday dinner (it was the one time when you had more or less total control over dinner). And your cake. But one time I was a huge brat and threw the biggest tantrum because Mom branched out and got me a Red Velvet cake instead of my chocolate cake, and I FREAKED.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com August 1, 2017, 4:55 pm

Awe, she was probably thinking that red velvet would be extra special or something. I’ve never tried red velvet cake. Crazy eh? I’m not a cake person.

You are rocking this pregnancy. That is all.

      Thanks Wendy!!! *playing air guitar*

Awww Happy Birthday, Katie! She looks like such a kind, special young woman.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com August 1, 2017, 4:54 pm

Oh she IS. She’s a gem. Katie makes us all look like assholes. 🙂

      • Megan @ Meg Go Run August 1, 2017, 5:03 pm

LOL. Freaking Katie. You did a good job. 🙂

        • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com August 1, 2017, 8:21 pm

Thanks Megan! You’d love her even more in person. Maybe one day!

Happy birthday, Katie! I used to LOVE birthday cake but in the past few years I haven’t wanted one. I think I want apple crisp or pie this year instead. You are the fittest pregnant later ever – seriously, my goals if I ever have kids. Your boy is going to come out a mini-athlete. I’m so excited for you.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com August 1, 2017, 4:54 pm

I’m opposite where I used to hate cake but now I’m okay with some, if it’s heated up first and topped with some melty ice cream. But I still usually pass when it’s offered at parties and showers.

I’m so excited too! I’m always wondering who this little boy is already, you know? Because now I know that they really do turn into adults! It blows my mind that my older kids were all once in my belly too. I know it sounds dumb, like duh, but it’s seriously hard to comprehend this stuff when it’s our first babies.

12 years old! Your girl is growing up…
And look at your in your cute bikini with your bump! Two thumbs up!

  • Una August 4, 2017, 4:29 pm

Jeebus, you are the cutest pregnant woman ever. At 34 weeks, I was a bloated, swollen, cranky whale who badly needed a pedicure and a bikini wax. You’re all fit and tanned and glowing!!

Awwwwww, Katie!!! I hope she has a wonderful birthday! 12 seemed like such a grown up age to me (probably because I got my first period a week before my birthday).

I’m a total cake person. I’ve never had a homemade cake for my birthday, unless it was one that I baked, which is something that I love to do.

I made my sister a triple layer cake for her birthday. It had dark chocolate, milk chocolate and white chocolate layers, with a vanilla pudding filling and whipped cream frosting.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com August 5, 2017, 5:46 pm

I’ll make you a cake for your birthday. Although, it’ll be shitty, but it will be filled with love.
