Week in Review: A Cat’s Ears Tell the Truth

Hi everybody! I’m linking up with Meghan from Clean Eats Fast Feets for this week’s Week in Review!

What a full week! I pretty much lost my sexy husband to the insanity that is the real estate market.

When he IS home, he’s on his phone. I run around and do my best to support him but he’s the only one that has the magic. I’m like Tommy Boy trying to sell brake pads. He’s like, well, like Andrew selling houses. He’s good. I’m not.

I was beginning to feel bad for him, you know, as each morning he’d try so hard to choke down my home brew. I love making coffee with freshly ground beans in my French press, but it ends up to be a little more solid than he’d like. The final straw dropped when I saw him take a sip and chew it. So, I caved and went out and got our family a Keurig.

So while Andrew did his thing, I did the Mom thing. I slothed around in my pajamas, sipped organic green tea lattés, and watched endless episodes of Ellen.

No. I didn’t.

I did the regular stuff of doctor appointments, teacher meetings, rugby games, dance practice, soccer games, laundry, dinners, lunches, brought the cat in for her spay, kept her alive (she scared me for a day or two but she’s okay now), things like that.

When Jake and I went into Vancouver on Monday night we popped into this cool store that sold crazy socks so I picked up an appropriate pair for Andrew to wear while he runs around like mad:

This is what rugby season looks like around here:

We are working on the iPhone addiction to Thomas videos, slowly but surely, but a lot more slowly than surely. (Notice the choo choo jammies)

Callum was ecstatic with our Walmart finds!

So he must have felt inspired to share one of his Thomas videos on MY FACEBOOK TIMELINE.

Our bi-weekly Costco trip scored us some pervy produce.

To celebrate Brandy’s last night as a fertile woman, I gave her a boudoir photography shoot. She was a bit nervous at first but the beer helped and she began to relax right into it. Although a cat’s ears always tell the truth.

The best part of my week was on Saturday, when I was able to wake up, have some coffee and go for a short run and then? I dropped Callum off at Grandpa and Grandma Slane’s so I could take off for a few hours to watch Kylah’s soccer game! I can’t tell you how much fun it was for me to drive over to my old city where I grew up and watch Kylah play on my home pitch. Back then it was a gravel field filled with soupy patches of rainwater and now it’s this beautiful turf surrounded by covered team benches and grandstands. And I could actually watch her play without having to chase Callum around.

She got MVP for the game. So great!

This was me at Kylah’s age.

And to cap it all off for the week, I got a text from a friend of mine who works at the insurance place a block down from where we live. She said while she was locking up, she heard Jake and his two buddies open the door to the salon next to her and ask the lady there if they wax pubes. We had a laugh, and then I played with Jake’s mind a bit, of course.

Jake is going on a motorbike trip with his Opa down to California for a week and a half or so. Situations like these help me not miss him so much. Or do they make me miss him more?

Did you ever wonder how your mom would just KNOW stuff?

Drove me crazy.

Cats ears always tell the truth. What position would yours be in right now if you were a cat?

Screw the other questions. Please tell me where I should buy Keurig pod thingies. I live in Canada, but it’s just a short drive across the border.

I love that throw back picture of you!! I bet it is cool to watch her play in the town where you grew up.
I don’t have a keurig(sp?), so I’m no help to you. Amazon, maybe?
My mom probably knew things, but I always told on myself first.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 9:43 am

Ha ha! You couldn’t handle the guilt. That’s a good thing!

  • Courtney @ Running For Cupcakes March 14, 2016, 9:53 am

My mom always knew everything, but that was because I grew up in an annoyingly small town! That carrot… I can’t handle it haha did you eat it?!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 12:48 pm

No, we didn’t eat it. And now that you mention it, I actually have no idea where it is. Maybe the cat had too much to drink that night……

  • Susie @ Suzlyfe March 14, 2016, 9:56 am

I was more of the mom in the relationship. I knew alllll from my mom’s face. And even more than cats, horses have amazingly expressive ears. Their’s are the BEST.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 12:47 pm

Oh yeah that’s totally true about horses’ ears!!!! Awe, I want to go pet a horsie now.

  • Susie @ Suzlyfe March 14, 2016, 9:57 am

Oh and speaking of pervation, there is a Buzzfeed article that you might enjoy: roommate sex horror stories. Also, i found a condom on the ground after the dentist last week.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 12:46 pm

Well, good thing they used protection. Mouths are full of bacteria.

  • Allison March 14, 2016, 10:06 am

Omg the picture of Callum in the hat is adorabllleeeeeeee! How did I miss that he shared that link – that is really hilarious!!! Love your penis carrot. That’s fabulous. This post was thoroughly entertaining. I was having a cranky Monday. Thank you!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 12:46 pm

      Isn’t he sneaky?!?! Unreal.

  • meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles March 14, 2016, 10:19 am

I love that picture of you! and I love that you got to drop off the little one so you could watch the game without chasing a toddler. I mean, those free moments are so free feeling.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 12:42 pm

YES! I got to hold a coffee and actually DRINK it instead of spilling it all over my coat while I chase Callum onto the field.

  • Megan @ Meg Go Run March 14, 2016, 10:43 am

Mmmm Keurig! I want one. I think it would change my life. I am in the Keurig Club at school. All the teachers who wanted to chipped in like $10 and we bought a Keurig for the faculty lounge. I get my kcups at Aldi where they are very cheap.

    Good job MVP Kylah!!! 🙂

That boudoir photo shoot is hilarrrrrrrious! I am glad your little kitty baby is feeling better. Poor girl.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 12:41 pm

I guess there are worse clubs to be in! Ha ha! Sounds hot. And yeah, she’s feeling a lot better but that was pretty scary! I kinda wish the vet would have kept her longer to monitor her.

  • Jen March 14, 2016, 11:56 am

I have the Starbucks Verissmo and I order pods from Costco online. But I’m not sure about Keurig.
My ears would be back. I’m at work so that would be the natural position 😉

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 12:37 pm

Ha ha! I can totally see your ears back at work. Coffee helps, though.

  • Heather March 14, 2016, 1:05 pm

Haha, a cat’s ears really do say it all. Love the kitty boudoir photo shoot!

My son had a similar Thomas obsession when he was younger… now it’s just an electronic’s obsession in general. Whoops!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 1:24 pm

I hear ya. I can’t even believe Callum already knows how to use my phone to get onto YouTube. My second to oldest son was obsessed with Thomas too. He’s turning 14!

  • Hellyontherun March 14, 2016, 1:21 pm

    How’d I Miss Callum’s post, lol!?

Lil Suzy looks like she had some soccer game!

My mom still knows everything. She’s the reason I’m a horrible liar, lol

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 1:23 pm

Yay for moms! And awwwyayahhh I brought the game alright. Woohooo. 😉

  • Lisa @ Running Out Of Wine March 14, 2016, 3:29 pm

I still dont know how my mom found out some of the stuff I did as a kid! I grew up in a small town so I couldnt get away with much- all the parents told each other everything. I love that picture from when you were younger!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 3:39 pm

Oh small town talk would kill me. I’d for sure be hooped. Although you know, there’s something to be said about having everything out in the open like that. It’s pretty freeing. My ex-husband’s family is expansive and I think by now the whole entire world knows all of my shit. I love my dad’s saying, “We’re only as sick as our secrets” and I couldn’t agree more. With no secrets, I am only surrounded by the people who love me, not judge me. This is either why small-town people are the freest spirits… or why they do a lot of drugs lol.

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets March 14, 2016, 4:45 pm

If I knew motherhood was all slothed around in my pajamas, sipping organic green tea lattés, and watched endless episodes of Ellen, I would have signed up sooner.

I love the boudoir picture of the cat. Those are irritated ears for sure, like lady get this bra off me.

You can get the coffee pods at any major store like Walmart, Target, Marshall’s and even some grocery stores now. You might even be able to order them online although I have no idea the expensive of international shipping.

P.S. Tommy Boy turned out to be awesome at selling brake pads.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 6:38 pm

He DID turn out to be awesome at selling brake pads, didn’t he?!?! Hmmm….

  • Jen March 14, 2016, 5:03 pm

    You have the best mugs.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 14, 2016, 6:24 pm

Well, I ordered the two of them off of lookhuman.com. It’s a great website!

  • Laura @ This Runner's Recipes March 15, 2016, 6:16 am

I love the picture of you younger! And I saw the Thomas the Tank video on your Facebook and right away thought of Callum. Too funny.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 15, 2016, 10:51 am

      He’s such a little stinker!

  • Lauren @ i had a big lunch March 15, 2016, 10:16 am

Haha that dirty carrot! I love that you probably blew Jake’s mind with your all-knowing mom-knowledge. That’s so, so funny! I can’t wait to mess with my kids like that.

So wonderful that you could actually enjoy the soccer game 🙂

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 15, 2016, 10:49 am

I felt bad torturing him like that, and I did eventually tell him the truth. Tee hee!

  • Lisa @ TechChick Adventures March 15, 2016, 10:35 am

Hilarious! Moms always do know. Truth 😉

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com March 15, 2016, 10:47 am

      It truly is a superpower.
