Woozy Wednesday: Every Last Drop

I’m having a hard time coming up with Woozy Wednesday posts; I’m running out of ideas faster than I’m running out of wine. I wish it was as easy as cutting the corner off of a faux-empty box of wine and pouring the remains into a wine glass, filling it to the brim. YAS.

I decided to just drink a bunch of wine and then write about a bunch of stuff. So, get comfy, protect your children, and turn on some Drake.

I got comfy and put my hair into a bunhawk, inspired by my longstanding friendship with Taryn from Alaska. That girl is a beautiful soul and I hope you all have a Taryn in your life.

I get a lot of amusing spammy comments but this one tops them all:

Like whoever wrote that comment needs to get their ass to the ER STAT. Like, maybe even in an ambulance.

This makes me think of this picture that my sister sent me. Tracey’s boyfriend Jim went camping last weekend and hung out with some bros. Dean was wearing this shirt, and so now Dean will be famous.

I asked him for permission to post it first, and promised that if things went sideways, that I would let him use this photo of me for payback.

I’m only on my first glass of wine. I’ve got some guts, eh? I think I’m about 12 years old in this photo. I was a real looker.

I feel like that glass of wine was a bonus glass, because I had originally assumed that the boxed wine was empty. So it’s almost like I never even drank it.

I ran my second-to-last “track” workout today: 4×1.5 miles at 6:31 min/mile pace (8 miles total) AFTER waking up at 5am to run 10 miles this morning. Most of the time, the thing that gets me through these toughies is the thought of having a Corona with lime. It’s like the beer is my dangling carrot at the finish line. But once I’m done, I feel so sick and I’m so exhausted and so ready to boke that I can’t even THINK about drinking beer.

Okay, I’m done writing this post because I feel like if I keep going then this post will get stupid-boring. Either that or there will be lawsuits.

Ever worn a bunhawk? DO ITTTTTT.

Boxed wine lovers out there?

Meg, you know you do. I didn’t recognize the brand of boxed wine you bought in that photo on your blog. What kind is it?

Any ideas for me for next Woozy Wednesday?

I LOVE that bunhawk. Growing my hair out until I can do that lol.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 31, 2016, 7:13 pm

Yup. I’m trying to wrangle it in a way that works for running. I am forever trying to figure out how to wear my hair when I run, especially when I race. I tried to do a french braid and THAT works well but I’m terrible at it.

Beer IS the carrot dangling at the end of a race/hard run.
Ryan and I drink Black Box cabernet sauvignon boxed wine. It’s so good and boxed wine is better for the environment. Their Chardonnay is pretty great also.

BUYING IT TOMORROW. And you, my sweet friend, will be held accountable for whatever naughty thing I do during/after consumption.

    Rey’s hair. Star Wars 7

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com May 31, 2016, 9:01 pm

I’ve never seen a single Star Wars episode in my life and so I have no idea who Rey is. Hopefully it’s a she, and she’s hot, and I look like her when I wear my hair in a bunhawk.

If I had enough hair for a bun hawk I probably still wouldn’t be brave enough. For races and long runs I choose two french braids using a side part at the front so I don’t look twelve… I like to think it works. I’m sure I have pictures around like that of myself too…. ouch.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 1, 2016, 9:32 am

See, I’d totally do the french braid(s) too if I could! But my arms get too tried and sore with all this hair.

I used to drink boxed wine in college and I don’t remember it being very good (but I didnt care back then). So now I know they have really good boxed wine but I haven’t tried it. That will be gone of my goals for this summer!

Well, it really intimidated me for so long because I hate spending money on something I wasn’t sure I could finish in time. But I have bought way too many bottles of wine only to get through half and then have to throw out the rest. Boxed wine lasts forever, so it works better for me, and I feel better about spending money on it.

  • Susie @ Suzlyfe June 1, 2016, 3:54 am

Boxed wine reminds me of college and my Mother in Law. It is a weird, tense, balance and juxtaposition.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 1, 2016, 9:29 am

HA HA HA HA! You write the best comments. Boxed wine is a bit of an oxymoron, like pooping in a gold-plated toilet, or getting married in front of a landfill.

  • Gretchen June 1, 2016, 4:56 am

I can not drink boxed wine anymore. In college I did a “Tour de Franzia” competition…one team was team red and the other was team white. You both got a box of franzia and had to finish it. Who ever finished without anyone throwing up won. It was not pretty.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 1, 2016, 9:28 am

I went to a Christian university so we’d have those same competitions except with ice cream. Jason, my ex husband, ate 4L of vanilla and threw up everywhere. I feel like wine would be much more fun.

  • Megan @ Meg Go Run June 1, 2016, 6:06 am

LOL of course I am a boxed wine gal! Much cheaper than bottles and better for the environment. I just buy whatever is on sale but NOT Franzia because that is super cheap. 🙂 Hey I totally cut the corners and get the last drop too!!!

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 1, 2016, 9:33 am

AND it’s better for the environment. Man oh man, I feel like a real winner right now. Like I’m saving the earth by drinking wine.

  • Meredith @ The Cookie ChRUNicles June 1, 2016, 9:33 am

I love that t shirt lol. I need it! ha, block people in real life. I also like your guess jeans t shirt — I miss guess jeans from when they were cool back in the 80’s/early 90’s. I am a total 80’s child.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 1, 2016, 12:10 pm

Oh, I thought I was SO COOL with that shirt. It was my prized possession!

  • Wendy Heath June 1, 2016, 10:18 am

I have a box of wine as we speak! Mm, boxed wine… it was an experiment to see if I could have that much wine in the house and not DRINK IT ALL (I have control issues sometimes with the “off” switch when I’m drinking) and that box has lasted over a month. I’m proud of me! 🙂

How about for Woozy Wednesday you write about all the other woozies other than alcohol? And not just the sick, barfing type… 😉

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 1, 2016, 12:13 pm

Okay but that freaks me out too, because doesn’t boxed wine only last 5 weeks or something? I’m way too paranoid for everything. I actually annoy myself.

  • Russ June 1, 2016, 5:33 pm

Another fan of the Black Box from time to time. The best part, aside from being good, is that the wine stays fresh for a long time.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 1, 2016, 5:46 pm

That’s the thing that I love about it too. There’s nothing that kills a mood faster than having to sniff-test food or drinks beforehand. With boxed wine, it’s just pour and drink. Boom.

  • Meghan@CleanEatsFastFeets June 3, 2016, 6:53 am

I can’t do a bun or a hawk, much less a bun hawk. I just realized this week, I cut off all my hair so I wouldn’t have to deal with it and now I’m going to have to do the hair of a small child for the next however many years. Irony, right there?

Bonus glass of wine for the win!! I love the creativity to get it out of there. You get two snaps and a twirl, oh and a cookie and a corona with lime.

    • suzy.suzyheather@gmail.com June 3, 2016, 11:00 am

Ha ha… you’re so witty, even on zero sleep. I don’t know how you do it.

  • Helly June 3, 2016, 9:59 am

How did I miss the bun hawk?????????
