Woozy Wednesday: Haiku Poetry Jam Night

Callum is a…spirited child. Yeah. And when he gets into one of his moods where he’s you know, like crying and screaming and whipping his toys against the hardwood, I put on reggae, pick my baby up and we dance. I press my right palm into the back of his head, push his face into my neck and pull him close to me. Then I invite his sweet tiny left fingers into my aged, tanned right hand, and we spin, sway, and wipe the tears away with each sidestep, bringing up giggles of delight with each dip.

I gave Callum my phone to play with (he watches Thomas videos on YouTube) while I write this post. When this popped up onto my screen he pointed and said, “MOMMY!”

The wine has been poured and now the poetry begins with a couple of Haiku poems:

Tapering

A knife in your neck

Pushing out a food baby

Legs like tanker trucks

Red Wine

It can make a mess

But the marks can be pretty

If I let them stay

Marathons

Blue skies, light breeze, go

Holy shit, this race won’t end

It’s done but brown stains

Second glass of wine break…

Getting Married Again

I’m a little scared

Actually a lot scared

But love drives out fear

Sex

Why are our assholes

In such close proximity

To where we give life?

Ex-Wives

You don’t like me much

But I never asked you to

Our kids are enough

Okay, one more. I’ll try to make it not so serious.

Teenagers

I feel uncomfy

When I clean your pubic hairs

Off the toilet rim

One more; I can’t stop. I’m sorry I’m not sorry.

Life

Heaven isn’t gold

It’s dirt streets wild hearts spiced meats

Soak up, sit back, in

Okay, your turn! Gimme a Haiku! 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second and back to 5 in the last.

You are a woman of so many talents. SO MANY TALENTS.
    I’ve just awoken
    My legs aren’t working yet
    Give me back my bed.

Very clever, especially for writing poetry in your sleep!

    TEQUILA

    I love tequila.
    Greener grass and bluer skies.
    Tacos are good too.

    The baby sleeps now.
I should too, yet I’m reading.
    I may regret this.

Except it’s one of your posts so no regrets and you made my tired ass laugh. Blows kiss.
