I was supposed to be giving you incriminating stories and pictures from Christmas Eve (last Woozy Wednesday) but Andrew and I only got so far as to pour our first couple of drinks when we realized that Callum was really sick with a cough, and while drinking may drown out the whiny child, it doesn’t necessarily drown out a sick one. And that maybe one of us needed to be sober for a hospital ride, and then who wants to drink alone without a bag of ketchup chips and a kayak? Not me. But here’s the photo of our first drink:
Now that Callum is feeling better, we decided that it would be quite fine to have a drinkypoo or two. In anticipation of NYE and inspired by Jen over here, we decided to buy a couple of bottles of champagne for tomorrow night…except…we ended up drinking one of them tonight.
Interestingly enough, I have only had champagne one other time in my life: after my first ultra marathon in Victoria, BC in May of 2011. I’m not a huge fan. I’m just not. I love the warmth of red wine, the way it melts into me on the way down like lovers in tropical ocean water. If I ever need the awakening that comes with cold, fizzy white, I’d sooner reach for a salty, spicy Ceasar.
So, I plan on making up for lost holiday drinking time by drinking ALL THE ALCOHOLS tomorrow. Champagne and orange juice with breakfast (to rehydrate after my morning run), Ceasars with lunch, and wine with dinner. And dessert. It won’t be pretty, but it’ll be fun.
May your last day of 2014 be filled with laughter, with love, and with whatever drink you reach for be it champagne, Ceasars, or coffee. And if you’re really lucky, may it even include the warmth of a lover in tropical ocean water. Hey, we can wish, right? We can wish.

It look like a fun night even if you don’t love the champs!
Thanks Jen! Sorry it took so long to publish your comment. I’m still trying to navigate this website. Maybe I should stop drinking while blogging…
